Have you ever had one of those stamping moments when you get an idea in your head and you just HAVE to make that card right NOW?! That's kind of what happened with this card.

I saw a darling Easter banner designed by Erica Cerwin at Pink Buckaroo Designs and it inspired me to create this card. I'm not happy with the grass and "hills" and I think the sun rays need a little bit of sponging on them. So I suppose I will just "have" to keep playing around with this design and see how I can improve it. :)

I LOVE MY STAMPIN' UP! PEEPS!! Easter Punch Art Tutorial

Hey Stamping Peeps!!!

Does your family like Peeps? We do!! I prefer the bunnies. And my first choice is the yellow ones. But truth be told... I would eat any shape or any color. :) Yesterday at WalMart I could only reach the yellow chicks. So I bought them.

I've seen the cutest little Easter bunny punch art on the net and wanted to re-create him make him look like a sugary Peep. Here is what I came up with:

Stamps: Indescribable Gift (sentiment)

Paper: Pretty In Pink, Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight, Perfect Plum, Pistachio Pudding, Best Year Ever DSP (SAB), Whisper White

Accessories: Oval Framelits, Decorative Dots EF, Small Oval Puch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Bow Builder Punch, Modern Label Punch, Fringe Scissors, Wisteria Chevron Ribbon, Pearl Jewels, Dazzling Diamonds gitter, Heat and Stick EP, Versamark Ink, Purple glitter (retired), Itty Bitty Flower Punch (retired)

Isn't it the cutest thing ever?!!! I just love how it turned out! For once, something that I pictured in my little pea-brain turned out like I had hoped.

Here are the punches I used and the punched out pieces.

Other supplies you will need are:

Heat Tool

Versamark Ink

Heat and Stick Embossing Powder

Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

First, glue your little bunny Peep together.

After he dries, squish his front side into Versamark ink. Make sure his whole body is inked up. 

Before the ink dries, cover it completely with Heat and Stick embossing powder.

Because you can not hold the bunny (since it's completely covered in EP), you should heat it in something that can withstand high temperatures. I used a metal pan from the dollar store. Melt the EP completely so it looks shiny. Not dull like this little guy. The Heat and Stick EP works kind of like hot glue.

Before it cools, cover your bunny liberally with Dazzling Diamonds (On the purple Peep, I used purple glitter, not Dazzling Diamonds.) Let it cool completely before removing any excess glitter.

Here are two bunnies punched out from Perfect Plum cardstock. One is covered in Dazzling Diamonds and the other is covered in a purple glitter that Stampin' Up! sold a few years back. 

The Dazzling Diamonds glitter is very iridescent so it turned by plum bunny kind of blue. That's why I chose to cover my second plum bunny in purple glitter. And now I {heart} this glitter and I wished Stampin' Up! still sold it!! I want to cover everything in glitter!!

Even if you don't like Peeps, that's okay!

I had so much fun making this card!! Now I need to think up another reason to go glitter something.

Stampin' Up! Good Friday Blessed by God Heat Emboss Tutorial

Hi Stamping Friends!!

I've been behind the 8 ball when it comes to Easter stamping this year. But I am super excited with the cards I did create. 

Have any of you ever attended an Easter sunrise service? When I was in elementary school, I went with my uncle to a sunrise service on Mt. Rubidoux in Riverside, CA. I have no idea what time we had to wake up, but I know it was early!! It was so dark climbing the trail to the top of the hill, that they had Boy Scouts stationed at certain locations with flashlights to help you see. Even though it was well over 30 years ago, I still remember how beautiful it was to watch the sun rise that morning while celebrating the resurrection of my Savior. How marvelous! How wonderful! 

That was my inspiration for this card.

Stamps: Blessed by God (cross), Kinda Eclectic (sun), Indescribable Gift (sentiment), Sheltering Tree (grass)

Paper: Always Artichoke, Brushed Gold, Perfect Plum, Sahara Sand, Best Year Ever DSP (SAB)

Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Beautiful Wings Embosslit (butterflies), Gold Ribbon, Itty Bitty Punch, Pearl Jewels

You know how the sky is a dark purple color before the sun rises? And then as it continues to get higher in the sky, the sky lightens to a lighter lavender before becoming blue. To make my sky a little darker around the edges, I sponged some Elegant Eggplant ink around the edges of my Perfect Plum card stock. I really like the effect.

I created the "hills" by tearing paper and then sponging the edges.

Some of you have asked about heat embossing. I took a few pictures while I was creating this card. I hope it explains the process, which is fairly simple and adds beautiful dimension to your cards.

Supplies needed for heat embossing:

Heat Tool

Versamark Ink 

Embossing Powder

Embossing Buddy (optional)

Rubber Stamp

Gently tamp your Embossing Buddy onto your cardstock. The Embossing Buddy helps cut down on static electricity. You only want the embossing powder to stick to your stamped image and not have little extras clinging to your cardstock in various places. The Embossing Buddy is a light colored "powder" that does show up on dark cardstock but can be easily brushed off after you are finished.

Ink up your stamp image with clear Versamark Ink and stamp onto your cardstock. 

While the ink is still wet, liberally sprinkle your embossing powder over your image, covering it completely. 

Remove any extra embossing powder and put it back in the container.

Heat up your image with your heat tool, being careful not to burn your fingers. Use a tweezer to hold your cardstock if necessary. 

Continue heating your image until all the embossing powder is melted. It should look shiny.

And that's it!! Super easy! Now you go ahead and EMBOSS SOMETHING!!

Stampin' Up! Indescribable Gift Easter

Hi Stamping Friends!!!

I ordered the Indescribable Gift stamp set from the Occasions Catalog because I was hoping to hone my coloring skills with the new Blendabilities alcohol markers. But with the whole "blendies debacle" (the manufacturer could not meet SU!'s high level quality control so they are no longer available for purchase), I decided to return my marker set since I had never used them.  I also contemplated returning the Indescribable Gift stamp set. But I'm so glad I decided to keep it!!

Stamps: Indescribable Gift (Occasions Catalog)

Paper: Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, Brushed Gold, Best Year Ever DSP (butterflies)

Accessories: Spring Flower EF, Label Framelits, Label Piercing Template, Gold Satin Ribbon, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Pearl Jewels, Baked Brown Sugar marker, Old Olive marker, Always Artichoke marker, Blender Pen, Bleach

I was inspired by a card I saw by Melissa Davies at RubberFUNatics. She used the bleach technique with this stamp set and it was so pretty I thought I would try it too.

I stamped my flower image (is it a cherry blossom or a dogwood?) using Early Espresso ink. then I cut it out with the Label Framelit. Next, using a small amount of regular bleach and a Blender pen, I "colored" my flowers.

It's a fairly simple technique. Just dip your pen in the bleach, and color, being careful not to touch your stamped outlines (which I didn't do and thus "erased" some lines and had to redraw them in using the fine side of the Early Espresso marker).

I love the look of the "bleach technique". I hadn't used it quite awhile. A few other simple tools and techniques I dusted off and used were:

I used to use the Beautiful Wings Embosslit All. The. Time. I love how it cuts out and embosses all at the same time! But when we got our new butterfly punches, my Embosslit got lost in the shuffle. It was fun to take him out again!!

Because I was not careful during my bleach coloring, I erased some of my lines. I thought I would replace the "inside" of my flowers by stamping them with a small image from the Sheltering Tree set using gold ink. It didn't turn out as I had planned. I wanted some soft, golden dots. Instead I got big splotches. So I tried covering them up with pearls. I still don't love it, but I wasn't about to start all over, so I did the best I could to "fix" it.

It's a big ol' hot mess in the center of my flowers. Oh well!! A tip to share though is: When Applying pearl or rhinestone jewels, use your paper piercing tool for perfect placement. It's especially helpful with those teeny tiny ones. You can use your piercing tool to lift them right off the sheet and place them anywhere you want them. So much easier than getting them stuck all over your fingers.

SInce I wanted to color my leaves green, I went to my marker set and realized that I had never converted my markers since the last color change!! Oh my! So before I could continue stamping, I first needed to organize my markers to the current colors.

I keep all of my old markers, so looking through them is like walking down a Stampin' Up! color memory lane. Who remembers Summer Sun? Handsome Hunter? Lavender Lace? Mellow Moss? Barely Banana?

Stampin' Up! Berry Easter Basket Card

Hi Stamping Friends!!

The kids had Spring Break this week so I didn't have much time to stamp. We were doing fun things like going to the movies (go see McFarland before it's too late!), shopping, and visiting Mickey Mouse. :) Yesterday was the first chance I had to hang out in my stamp loft and boy did I enjoy my self!! Therapy people!! I'm telling you that crafting is my therapy. (It may not be cheaper than actually seeing a therapist, but it is way more fun!)

I've been wanting to create some Eastery things, so that was my theme for the day. Here is one of the cards I made:

Accessories: Berry Basket Die, Large Oval Punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslit (butterfly), Fringe Scissors, Rhinestone Jewels, SAB ribbon

The Best Year Ever DSP makes the BEST Easter eggs E.V.E.R!!!! Perfect colors and patterns. It made creating this card so easy! I wanted the basket to look 3D so I first scored the bottom to make it pop out a little, but ended up eliminating the extra "bump" because it stuck out too far. It's hard to tell from the pic, but the basket and front two eggs are raised with Dimensionals, so there is some depth.

I shortened my basket by cutting off the top a little. It was just not proportioned correctly for the size of my eggs. The little butterfly is cut out using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. I almost forgot about this great little tool. Before we got the butterfly punches, I used it All. The. Time. I love how it embosses and cuts out at the same time.

I had cut these out for another project and had the larger two left over, laying on my workspace. It was the perfect pop of color. The Jewel Rhinestones look yellow because they are. I did not color them with anything. I had a pack that "turned" on me. Never had that happen before. I called Stampin' Up! and they replaced the "damaged" pack but of course I didn't throw them away. I'm going to use ever last one of those yellow jewels. :)

I'm hoping to do a little more crafting today. I'll probably inundate you with blog posts next week, trying to share all my Easter fun before Easter gets here next Sunday.

Petite Petals Easter

One of my favorite stamp sets out of the Occassions Catalog is Petite Petals. I love it because it comes witha matching punch and I am a sucker for coordinating products.

I made this card for my final week of my 40 Card for 40 Days of Lent Challenge. I really ejoyed sending out cards every week during Lent. I think I'm going to try and continue sending out cards. It gives me a great reason to have to stamp!! ;)

I CASEd this card from one I saw on Stampin' Connection (an online site for Stampin' Up! demonstrators) that was created by Linda Creech. I just changed up the colors a bit and used a different EF. I just love the look of the lattice inside the cutout label. It fits inside perfectly!!

Scallop Tag Easter Bunny

Hi Stamping Friends!!

Just a quick post before we head out the door for Good Friday services.

Here is a Bunny Treat bag made with the Scallop Tag Topper that we made at our last club meeting…

Stamps: None

Paper: Whisper White, DSP Stack

Accessories: Scallop Tag Topper Punch, Oval Punches, Small Heart Punch, Petite Petals Punch, Pearl Jewels, Basic Black Marker

This cute little guy is SUPER easy to make. Just cut a strip of Whisper White card stock 2"x11". Then score at 3 1/2", 5", and 9" (the Simply Scored Scoring Tool makes this fast and easy!). Then punch out the top using The Scallop Tag Topper Punch. The little heart "nose" covers up the hole created by this punch. Fill a small treat bag with yummy candy (I chose the small Cadbury chocolate eggs) and assemble!

Peter Cottontail Treat Bag

Do you remember this Rudolph Treat Bag that I shared at Christmas?

Well I decided to make a quick version of his cousin, Peter Cottontail, for Easter:

This little guy was so quick and easy to make. I love the chevron print on the Tag a Bag Treat Bags. If I had more treat bags in the house, I would make these for all the neighbors. But I don't. Now I need to come up with Plan B.

Bunny Bottom

Hi Stamping Friends!!

It's official! Club water polo season has begun!

Sorry I've been MIA. It was a water polo weekend so I have been away from my computer for a few days. When our son and daughter's teams both play on the same weekend, it typically means dad goes one way and mom goes the other. They may be playing in the same tournament, but you always end up at different pools. Sometimes multiple different pools in the same day! This time we were fortunate and ended up one afternoon at the same complex, so dad could watch daughter and I coud watch son. That rarely happens!! 

Today I have a card that we created at our last club meeting. I've seen all kinds of these cute bunny bottoms floating around on the web. I'm pretty sure I saw it last year as well, so I do not know who the original creator is. But I thank them for coming up with such a cute idea!!

Stamps: Hardwood

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Gumball Green, DSP Subtles Stack

Accessories: 1 3/4 Circle Punch, Oval Punches, Scallop Punch, Fringe Scissors, Pom-pom (non-SU!)

The Crumb Cake layer is "lifted" with Dimensionals to make it more 3-D. Like there is actually a hole for the bunny to climb through. And the bunny's "paws" are also raised up away from his bottom to add more dimension.

I never did get around to adding a sentiment. Ooops! He looks kinda lonely without one. It would also look cute with some little flowers down in the grassy area. Maybe with the Boho Blossom punch. 

So you can make this card as simple (like mine) or as fancy as you want!!

Peek-A-Boo Easter Bunny

Hi Stamping Friends!!

I can't believe Easter is only a week and a half away!! I'm looking forward to no school next week. Maybe I'll have extra time to stamp. :)

Here is another card we made Sunday at my monthly stamp club. I thought this was going to be a fun, simple card for my gals to breeze through, but apparently I was wrong. Or I'm just bad at giving instructions. ;)

Either way, it's an adorable Easter bunny card that I CASEd from several I've seen online.

Isn't he cute?! Or maybe it's a she because of the bow? I had pre-cut all of the ovals. All the gals needed to do was glue them onto the card base. Pretty simple right?! Except they were having fits with the angle. Apparently having him/her peek out from the side was more difficult than I thought. They also took up issue with having to draw on his/her eyes and whiskers. I say just roll with it girls!! :)

Springtime Hardwood Fence

Hi Stamping Friends!!

I had such a fabulous time yesterday with my stamp club friends. We just stamped and laughed and laughed and stamped. So much fun!! One of the cards we created was somewhat involved, so I designed a couple of (what I thought!) simpler cards to go with it. They were having such a difficult time doing the "simple" cards I told them they may need to take a remedial stamp class. :) Or maybe the fault lies with me, their instructor, as most of them have been stamping with me for quite a few years and are still having "stamping issues". :) 

Here is the "difficult" card that we created:

Accessories: Word Bubble Framelits, Decorative Dots EF (SAB), Chevron Border Punch, Bird Punch, Butterfly Punch, Petite Petals Punch, Pansy Punch, Candy Dots Subtles, Fringe Scissors, Dimensionals

Even though there are lots of pieces and lots of punching and lots of gluing and lots of sponging on this card, my stampers loved it and at the end of it all, were very happy that we made it.

I have seen so many fun cards on the web using the Hardwood stamp as a fence. The first one I saw was a card by Patty Bennett who is an amazing Stampin' Up! demonstrator. She has a video on her site that shows how she created her card. I used her idea of the Chevron Punch on my card. Here is the link to her video:

Easter Treats

Hi Stamping Friends!!

Just wanted to pop in and share a couple of Easter treat ideas, since Easter is only one week away!! We are celebrating with my family today, so I needed to finish my treats up early.

I know there are two categories when it comes to Peeps. You're either a lover or a hater. It's pretty obvious which category our family falls into. I made these colorful treats for my nieces and nephews. And of course for my own kiddos too! They are super easy. You just need a skewer, some Peeps, a Stampin' Up! Cello Bag, and some Stampin' Up! ribbon of your choice. Me? I chose to use some retired grosgrain ribbon. Which I must say I miss having in the catalog. It was my "go-to" ribbon. Oh well!! At least Stampin' Up! has some amazing replacements!! They always know how to keep me happy!!

This next Easter treat is what I placed in the order bags of my monthly stamp club gals. I hope they like it!!

Tools I used to make this cute bunny are the Top Note die, Oval Framelits, Oval Punch, Circle Punches, Heart Framelit, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, and a Stampin' Up! Cello Bag. So quick and super easy!!! I filled them with mini Cadbury chocolate eggs.

Now you have two simple Easter treat ideas that will impress everyone, but won't take a ton of time to make. That way we can all enjoy Easter Break!! Can't wait to sleep in on Monday!!!
