Today I have the fourth and final card that combines the Wondrous Wreath stamp set that is featured on page 72 of the regular "Share the Fun" catalog and the Hostess stamp set Six Sayings that is on page 51 of the "Handmade for the Holidays" mini holiday catalog.
Stamps: Wondrous Wreath, Six Sayings, Hardwood BG, Kinda Eclectic (the sunburst behind the cross)
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Blushing Bride, Wisteria Wonder, Soft Suede
Paper: Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Whisper White, Soft Suede, Retired Wasabi DSP
Accessories: Wonderful Wreath Framelits, Banner Triple Punch, Pearl Jewels
Isn't it cool how you can take two "Christmas" stamps and make an Easter card?! The "Blessings" sentiment actually comes from a bigger stamp that says, "Happy Holidays and may Blessings fall like snowflakes". I stamped the entire sentiment in Wisteria Wonder and then cut out just the "Blessings".
To create the cross I stamped the Hardwood BG stamp onto Soft Suede cardstock using Soft suede ink. Then I cut out two pieces of the wood. I distressed the edges and then sponged it all to give it an older look.
I love how this card eventually turned out, but there are still things about it that bug me. Like the cross. At first I had the crossbar in the front. That didn't look right so I pulled the whole thing apart and put it in the back. Now I think I should have left it. And I cut the end tags on the sentiment way to close to the letters. That S has no breathing room!! And I wanted the "sunburst" to show up a little more. I should have stamped it lower like the sun was rising behind the hills. Then it would have had a bigger impact.
Overall it was a very fun card to make. Do you ever get finished with a card and look at it with a too critical eye? I know whomever I send this card too will not notice any of the things I just mentioned. That's what keeps stamping fun for me. There is no such thing as a perfect card. They are all wonderful little masterpieces. All with there own little unique quirks. Just like me. :)
This was such a fun challenge to pair these two stamp sets together. I challenge you to do the same. Look at your stamp stash. Pick two sets (it helps if one of them is a sentiment set). And come up with a few unique cards using both sets together.
