Petal Potpourri Class Final Card

Hi Stamping Friends!

Well I'm off! Headed down the 5 freeway for my first ever "on the road" stamping class!! Just wanted to share the fifth and final card we will be making on Sunday.

Stamps: Petal Potpourri, Crazy About You
Paper: Calypso Coral, Whisper White, Best Year Ever DSP (SAB)
Ink: Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana
Accessories: Hexagon Hive Thinlit, Flower Medallion Punch, Petite Petals Punch, Sale-A-Bration Ribbon and Button, Rhinestone Jewels, Dimensionals

For the flower, I stamped two flowers with Crushed Curry, cut the petals to separate them, then curled up the edges with a bone folder. Lastly, I layered them with Dimensionals. Also, the entire Hexagon Hive cut-out is attached with Dimesionals to give added depth. I love how it all turned out!!

I have a bunch more projects to share, but didn't have time to take amy pictures yet, so they will have to wait until next week. It sure has been a fun week getting ready for this class!! I hope I have everything!

If you are interested in receiving a FREE card kit in the mail from me, join my February Online Stamp Class featuring the Celebrate You stamp set. Find out all the details on this blog post: CELEBRATE TODAY

I hope to see you again next week.

Crazy About You Card Class #4

Hi Stamping Friends!!

I have two more cards I want to share with you from my upcoming Petal Potpourri card class. I have everything packed and ready to go for this class. I hope!! I hate showing up to a class and realizing I left something at home. Especially when home will be 300 miles away this time!! Thankfully I have plenty of stampin' friends in the Tulare/Visalia area that can help me out if I do forget something.

Stamps: Crazy About You
Paper: Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Pear Pizzazz
Accessories: Flower Medallion Punch, Lovely Lace EF, White Organza Ribbon, Pearls

I stamped three of the flower images and then "fussy" cut out two layers (the bottom layer I punched out using the Flower Medallion punch) and layered them using Dimensionals.

I'm really happy with how this card turned out. I think it's the white background. So crisp and clean. Love all the different sentiment you can make with the Crazy About You stamp set. Dozens and dozens of different combinations of words. I like this general saying "Happy For You" because it can work for all sorts of occasions; wedding, new baby, birthday, anniversary, new job, graduation, engagement. Can you think of anymore?

Tomorrow I will be sharing the last card for this class. I also have a couple of cards to share from a workshop I'm doing and a couple of other projects to blog about. But I probably won't be able to share them with you until next week when I get home because I will be staying at my mom and dad's for the next few days AND THEY DO NOT HAVE INTERNET!!! I know. Hard to believe. And the cell service they have out in the country stinks!! It's even hard to send and receive texts. You need to go out into the middle of the yard to make sure it goes through. Dark Ages I tell ya. ;)

I hope you have an awesome Thursday!

Groovy Love Calypso and Red Instructions

Hi Stamping Friends!!!

Today I am sharing the instructions for the final two cards that were included in my Groovy Love Online Stamp Class. I had a blast creating these cards and can't wait to announce my next Online Stamp Class!!

Calypso and Red Card Number One:

Kit includes:
1 Calypso Coral card base
1 Crisp Cantaloupe card front
1 Whisper White card front embossed with the Stylish Stripes EF
1 Whisper White stamping sheet
1 Stacked with Love DSP strip
1 Silver Glimmer heart
1 Whisper White banner (cut using the Bitty Banner Framelits)
1 16" piece of Real Red cotton ribbon
6 Rhinestone Jewels

Supplies needed:
Groovy Love stamp set
Sweetheart punch
Real Red ink
Basic Black ink
Adhesive
Dimensionals

With Real Red ink, stamp three different heart images from the Groovy Love stamp set and punch out with the Sweetheart punch. Stamp the "From the Heart" sentiment onto the Whisper White banner using Basic Black ink. (Remember, if you mess up your stamping on your first try, flip the banner over and try again.) Layer the Crisp Cantaloupe card front onto the Calypso Coral card base. Adhere the embossed Whisper White card front onto the Crisp Cantaloupe layer. Glue the Stacked with Love DSP strip onto the left side of the card. Using Dimensionals, attach the hearts. Glue the sentiment banner onto the Silver Glimmer heart. Adhere the Rhinestones and tie the ribbon.

Calypso and Red Card Number Two:

Kit includes:
1 Calypso Coral Label flip card base
1 Whisper White label
1 Stacked with Love DSP wide striped strip
1 Stacked with Love DSP thin strip
1 Real Red I <3 cutout="">
1 Silver Glimmer arrow
1 Silver Glimmer small heart
1 Crisp Cantaloupe small heart
1 Real Red piece of cotton ribbon

Supplies needed:
Groovy Love stamp set
Sweetheart punch
Happy Hearts embossing folder (or any other folder you have)
Adhesive
Dimensionals

Looking at the supply photo, I can see that I forgot a few things. I only included one Whisper White label and I should have sent two. (You can just skip putting one on the inside.) I did not cut the ribbon long enough to make a bow. It's only long enough to tie a knot. And... I did not include any extra Whisper White to stamp on. So hopefully you will have a little leftover from the other kits. SORRY!!!

Anywhoo... on to the instructions: Stamp the "polka dot" Groovy Love heart onto Whisper White card stock and punch out using the Sweetheart punch. Glue the thin Stacked with Love strip onto the left front of the Calypso Coral card base. Using any embossing folder you have, run just the front piece (do not emboss the flip label) through your Big Shot. This step can be omitted if you do not have any embossing folders. Glue the wide Stacked with Love strip to the left side. Glue the Whisper White label to the front of the card. Cut the Silver Glimmer arrow in half and glue to white label being careful not to let it overhang on the edges. Attach the polka dot heart over the arrow using Dimensionals. Attach Crisp Cantaloupe small heart on top of polka dot heart. Add rhinestone. Glue I<3 add="" cotton="" cut="" glimmer="" heart.="" inside="" label.="" left="" of="" out="" real="" red="" ribbon="" side.="" silver="" small="" the="" tie="" to="" u="">

I am really loving doing these Online Stamp Classes. It's so fun to design the cards and get the kits together. Plus, I like to post stuff throughout my creative process on my Facebook page so it's almost like having you all join me for the class!! Stop by on Sunday and see which stamp set I picked for February's Online Stamp Class.

(This post is not posting correctly. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any questions, please email me.)

Groovy Love Red and Black Instructions

Hi Stamping Friends!!!

You've seen both of today's cards on the blog before. But I wanted to share some detailed instructions with the gals that purchased the January Online Groovy Love Stamp Class. I'm sending the final five kits out today. Yay!!!

These two cards are the red and black cards in your kit.

Red and Black Card Number One:

Your kit includes:
1 Whisper White card base
1 Whisper White stamping sheet
1 Real Red card front
1 Basic Black card front embossed with the Happy Heart EF
1 - 16" piece of Silver Ribbon
Various pieces of Stacked with Love DSP punched with the Bow Builder punch.

Supplies needed:
Groovy Love stamp set
Sweetheart punch
Real Red ink
Glue Dots
Dimensionals
Adhesive

Stamp the polka dot heart using Real Red ink and punch out with the coordinating Sweetheart punch. Layer the Real Red card front onto the Whisper White card base. Next, adhere the Basic Black card front onto the Real Red front. Place your hearts on the card using Dimensionals. Assemble the bow. It is easiest to assemble using Glue Dots, but regular glue will work. It just might get a little messy. It is best to "curl" your rounded bow pieces first using your bone folder. This will keep them round and not crease. Make sure to pay attention to your DSP pattern. You don't want the pattern to be "upside-down". Attach completed bow to the center heart using Glue Dots. Tie your ribbon.

Red and Black Card Number Two:

You kit includes:
1 Whisper White card base with a 1" piece cut off the front
1 Whisper White stamping sheet
1 - 5 1/2" long strip of Stacked with Love DSP
1 Basic Black strip punch with the Heart Border punch
1 piece of "x's and o's" Stacked with Love DSP
1 piece of Real Red cotton ribbon
1 small Silver Glimmer heart

Supplies needed:
Real Red ink
Basic Black ink
Sweetheart punch
Adhesive

Stamp 3 "zebra" hearts using Basic Black ink. Stamp 2 "polka dot" hearts using Real Red ink. Punch out using the Sweetheart punch. Attach the long strip of Stacked with Love DSP to the inside of the Whisper White card base. Trim any excess paper. Arrange hearts on the cut edge of the card front. When adhering the hearts to the card front, be careful not to put adhesive on the entire back of the heart. You do not want to accidentally glue your card closed. :) Trim off any excess hearts that hang over the top or bottom. Adhere the "x's and o's" piece of paper, followed by the Basic Black heart strip, and finally the Real Red cotton ribbon. The ribbon is easiest to attach using Glue Dots. Stamp your sentiment in Basic Black ink, centered over the "x's and o's" DSP. Stamp the sentiment again on a piece of scrap Whisper White using Real Red ink. Cut out the word "love" and adhere on to your card front using a Dimensional. Attach the tiny Silver Glimmer heart.

Both of these cards are super simple and can be easily copied using other stamp sets, sentiments, and for other occasions. Get creative and have fun!!

Tomorrow I will be posting the instructions for the final two cards in this kit.

Well I thought this was going to be a stamping kind of day. Turns out I need to be a "bus driver" again. In order to save money, our school district did away with their school busses. Yesterday I drove fourth graders to a mission in San Juan Capistrano. Today I get to drive Girl's Varsity water polo players to La Jolla.

Hopefully I will find time this weekend to sneak into the craft loft.

Have a fun Friday!!

Petal Potpourri Tulare Class Birthday Card #3

Hi Stamping Friends!!

Only one week left for you to purchase your supplies and RSVP to my Tulare Best. Day. Ever. card class happening on February 15th. Check out this blog post with all the information about how you can participate in the class: BEST. DAY. EVER.

Here is another one of the cards that we will be making that day...

Stamps: Petal Potpourri, Crazy About You
Paper: Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Best Year Ever DSP
Accessories: Hello You Thinlits, Bow Builder Punch, Flower Medallion Punch, SAB Ribbon

Not sure I like the ribbon placement on this card, but I'm just kinda over it. I do like how the Petal Potpourri lacy flower looks as a border though. Very fun way to use this stamp set.

Purchase the Hello Life Kit and/or the Perpetual Calendar Kit, bring them with you to class. I will have all of the stamps and inks available for you to finish your projects. Petal Potpourri Tulare Class Thanks Card

Hi Stamping Friends!!

I am having a blast designing cards for my upcoming classes. I miss designing for my monthly card club, so this has been a real treat for me. If you are interested in coming to my Tulare classes on February 15th, visit this blog post for more info... BEST. DAY. EVER.

Stamps: Petal Potpourri
Paper: Crushed Curry, Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Best Year Ever DSP
Ink: Crisp Cantaloupe, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: Hello You Thinlits, Flower Medallion Punch, Best Year Ever Ribbon, Calypso Coral Chevron Ribbon, Honeycomb EF, Large Pearl (retired)

The class will be featuring the Petal Potpourri stamp set, Flower Medallion Punch, and Crazy About You stamp set. I've also been adding the Hello You Framelits to the cards even though those are not a required class purchase.

If you do buy the Hello You Framelits, there is a great tip floating around the internet about how to use them. I would credit the original Stampin' Up! demonstrator who "discovered" this trick, but I'm not sure who found it first. There have been all kinds of gals sharing it, so I'm going to share it too...

Create a Big Shot "sandwich" using an unscented dryer sheet, card stock, wax paper, and your Thinlit die (in that order). Sandwich it all between two clear plastic plates and run it through your Big Shot using your magnetic platform. Works like a charm.

I used to despise intricate and detailed Thinlits because the card stock would get stuck inside the die or it would stick to the plastic plate and would tear trying to pry it off. Not anymore!! Can't wait to try it on my new Butterfly Thinlits!! A BIG thank you to the inventor of this little tip. And thanks for sharing it!

If you do not live in the Tulare County area and cannot attend the class, there is always Option B which is available anywhere in the U.S.

Groovy Love Online Card Class #3

Hi Stamping Friends!!!

Have you joined my January Online Stamp Class yet? Well, there is still plenty of time! Check out all the details in my GROOVY LOVE post here on the blog.

Here is another card you can get as a kit for FREE by joining the class:

Stamps: Groovy Love
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver Glimmer, Stacked with Love DSP
Accessories: Real Red Cotton Ribbon, Sweetheart Punch, Hearts Border Punch

So fun!! Here is another picture of this same card that I took in the same location, same camera and settings, but at a different time of day...

What a difference!! The Whisper White on this second card has a bluish hue to it. This picture was taken in the morning when the lighting was not very strong in my backyard yet. The top picture was taken in the afternoon when it was brighter. (Special thanks to Jeff Killion at Gainsborough Studios who used to teach a free photography class through the Tulare Adult School for helping me understand my camera a little bit more.)

Just goes to show how much thought and time goes into this whole blogging thing. It's a good thing I enjoy it because in reality, it is quite tedious and time consuming. Make a card. Take a picture. If picture doesn't turn out, take more. If the weather is bad and there is no good natural lighting, mess around for half an hour trying to get the lights in your house to shine exactly perfectly on your card. Upload picture to computer. Straighten, crop, and brighten picture. Write blog post. Edit blog post. Post to Facebook. Pin on Pinterest. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Don't get me wrong. I've been blogging since 2008 and love it. I have enjoyed getting to know others out there in the blogging world, especially while participating in blog hops and being on challenge teams. And since moving recently, the internet has been my lifeline connecting me to all my stamping friends back in Tulare and for that I am very grateful. I guess I just want all you non-blogging peeps to appreciate all the things Stampin' Up! demonstrators share on the world wide web. Kudos to the gals that blog everyday and also film and edit videos. I haven't been able to find the time to start that yet!!

Anywhoo... I'll jump off my soapbox. Just remember to thank your favorite blogger for all her hard work. :)

The kids have a four day weekend and it all starts off with a water polo game this afternoon, skateboard lessons for the boy on Saturday, and a visit to the San Gabriel Mission sometime. Plus, I hope to get some stamping done somewhere in the middle of it all.

Here's a few links to distract you longer. :)

Petal Potpourri Tulare Class Card #1

Hi Stamping Friends!!

I wanted to share one of the cards we will be creating at my Tulare County Class on February 15th. Details on how to RSVP to the class and reserve your seat can be found here:
BEST. DAY. EVER.

Stamps: Petal Potpourri, Crazy About You
Paper: Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, Best Year Ever DSP (SAB)
Accessories: Large Polka Dot EF, Banner Framelits, Flower Medallion Punch, Hello You Thinlits, Best Year Ever Ribbon and Button (SAB)

If you live in the Tulare County area and would like to attend this class, just go to my online Stampin' Up! store and purchase the Petal Potpourri Bundle #138877 (page 23) and the Crazy About You stamp set #137137 (page 31) from the Occasions Catalog using Hostess Code: WMPESJHQ by January 27th and you reserved your seat! On the day of class please bring your own adhesive and clear blocks and we will create 10 fabulous cards together!! So easy!!

When I'm designing cards I often hem and haw until a card looks just right. That's what happened with this card. I had it finished for a couple days and even took a picture, but it just wasn't right. I decided to change the ribbon color and BOOM! It was perfect! Here is what the card looked like with the other color ribbon:

The Calypso ribbon looks so much better. It gives the card some POP. It also follows the "rule of threes". The ribbon is Calypso. The flower is Calypso. And the "you" is Calypso. Now everything is nice and balanced in my world.

A ribbon is an easy thing to "fix". I currently have another card I finished that just doesn't look right yet. But that one I'm just going to have to start over with because the elements I want to change are glued down. Hope I have time today so I can share with you on Friday.

If you would like to purchase your Tulare Class stamp sets, visit my Stampin' Up! website: KRYSTAL DE LEEUW

If you want up-to-the-minute stamping fun and news, follow me on Facebook:

There is still time to join my January Online Stamp Class featuring the Groovy Love stamp set. It's super easy.
