Stampin' Up! Acorny Thank You Gets Fancy

Hi Stamping Friends!!

As some of you may know, my husband and I are church planters in Oceanside, CA. Each month our family is blessed by others to continue on this path God has brought us to. Each month we like to send thank you cards to all of our supporters.

This month I based our card on one I did for my Tulare County card class. I made 24 of these and then ended up needing to make a dozen more. Having to make more thank you cards is always a good problem to have. :)

Stamps: Acorny Thank You, B.Y.O.P. (sentiment)
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Tip Top Taupe, Gold Glimmer, Newsprint DSP, Retired DSP
Accessories: Woodland EF, Leaflets Framelits, Acorn Builder Punch, 2 1/2" Circle Punch

Sometimes when I create a card, I want to see if I can fancy it up a bit. Here is my "fancier" acorn card:

For the fancier version I added a second card front layer, a second acorn, some Burlap Ribbon and tied it all up with some Linen Thread. I love all the extra textures on this card. But I sure wouldn't want to make 36 of them!! That's why sometimes simpler is best.

Here is a "picture list" of the steps I used to make 36 of the "simple" acorn thank you card:

Cut, stamp, emboss, and punch all your card elements.

Glue down embossed card fronts.

Attach DSP strip.

Attach circles with Dimensionals.

Attach Newsprint leaves with glue.

Attach acorns with Dimensionals.

Slow and steady wins the race!!

After you've done it enough times, making 36 cards is pretty easy. Bump that number up to 100 and then it gets kind of time consuming. ;)

My November Online Stamp Class was announced a few days early. If you would like to participate, here are the details:

Hi Stamping Friends!!

Today I will share my first card of my four Vintage Leaves cards that I created as card kits for my Online Stamping Class. I called this one Chocolate Tangerine because of the paper I used. But think it's kind of fun!!

I finished prepping these kits yesterday but still need to get them in the mail. Hopefully you will have them by Friday so you can stamp your heart out this weekend.

Stamps: Vintage Leaves
Ink: Soft Suede

1 - Newsprint leaf
1 - Gold Glimmer acorn
1 - Newsprint acorn
1 - Corrugated acorn top
1 - Chocolate Chip top
1 - Burlap Ribbon strip
1 - Celebrate OR Thanks Natural Element (I didn't have enough of just one.)
And my gift to you... a spool of Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker's Twine!! (not pictured)

Instructions:
Attach the Chocolate Chip card front onto the Very Vanilla card base.
Attach the the Happy Haunting DSP onto the Chocolate Chip card front.
Stamp the "maple" leaf stamp using Soft Suede ink.
Cut out leaf using the Leaflets Framelits.
Gently bend leaf on "vein" lines to give it more dimension.

Stampin' Up! Acorny Splitcoast Challenge

Hey Stamping Friends!!

Surprise! Surprise!! I'm blogging on a Saturday! Can you believe it?! Me either. I rarely have a free Saturday. But since I did, I thought I would play up in my stamp loft.

I used to participate in the stamping challenges over at Splitcoast Stampers All. The. Time. But life got busy and that was one of the things that had to go. Since I had some free stamping time today, I thought I would go see what challenges were going on.

I decided to combine their weekly color challenge with their weekly sketch challenge. Here is my card:

Stamps: Acorny Thank You
Ink: Sahara Sand, Pistachio Pudding
Paper: Whisper White, Gold Soiree DSP (retired but on the Clearance Rack!), Sahara Sand, Pool Party, Pistachio Pudding, Gold Glimmer, Vellum
Accessories: Acorn Builder Punch, Woodland EF, Decorative Dots EF, Pool Party Baker's Twine, Candy Dots

Here is the color combo CC552:

I had to dig around to find a piece of Pistachio Pudding. I used mine all up! Glad I had some of the Gold Soiree DSP in my stash. It's on the Clearance Rack right now for super cheap. Go get yourself some!!

Here is the sketch SC562:

I've always enjoyed playing along with the Splitcoast Challenges. I'm glad I could join in this week. Hopefully it will fit into my schedule more often. Challenges are a great way to get your creativity moving. And it's fun to see others stampers take on the challenges.

Stampin' Up! Acorny Thank You

Hi Stamping Friends!!

Choosing stamp sets out of the Holiday Catalog is always a challenge for me because I WANT IT ALL!! After I whittle down my list to something my bank account can afford, and finally (after much hemming and hawing) I place my order, only to browse the web and find amazing samples of some set that I did not order.

That's how I ended up getting Acorny Thank You added to my collection. I was not going to buy another "fall" set. I didn't need one. Even if it did have a matching punch (I'm a sucker for any stamp set that has matching tools). But lo and behold I caved.

Here is a card we made at my Tulare County Class last Sunday:

Stamps: Acorny Thank You
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Corrugated Paper, Gold Glimmer, Old Retired DSP that I don't know the name of :)
Accessories: Woodland EF, Acorn Builder Punch, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, Leaflets Framelits

I based this design off of something fancier that I saw on the interweb. I wanted to simplify mine to show my stampers that you can make a cute, quick card that can be done in a few minutes. Not everything needs to have all the bells and whistles.

I'm doing a similar card for my monthly thank you cards. Here is what the beginnings of two dozen cards looks like:

I still need to stamp and punch out my acorn topper and stamp my "thank you" sentiment onto the circle, but I have the majority of the pieces all ready to go. When I mass produce cards, I usually start from the base up. I will glue the Woodland embossed Very Vanilla piece onto the Soft Suede card bases. Then add the "wood" strip to the front. Then the circle, the leaf and finally the acorn. I like adding one detail at a time instead of trying to finish each card individually.

Just a reminder...
Monday is the last day to order the Vintage Leaves bundle and still participate in my Online Card Class.

Here are the details:
