Stampin' Up! Acorny Splitcoast Challenge

Hey Stamping Friends!!

Surprise! Surprise!! I'm blogging on a Saturday! Can you believe it?! Me either. I rarely have a free Saturday. But since I did, I thought I would play up in my stamp loft.

I used to participate in the stamping challenges over at Splitcoast Stampers All. The. Time. But life got busy and that was one of the things that had to go. Since I had some free stamping time today, I thought I would go see what challenges were going on.

I decided to combine their weekly color challenge with their weekly sketch challenge. Here is my card:

Stamps: Acorny Thank You
Ink: Sahara Sand, Pistachio Pudding
Paper: Whisper White, Gold Soiree DSP (retired but on the Clearance Rack!), Sahara Sand, Pool Party, Pistachio Pudding, Gold Glimmer, Vellum
Accessories: Acorn Builder Punch, Woodland EF, Decorative Dots EF, Pool Party Baker's Twine, Candy Dots

Here is the color combo CC552:

I had to dig around to find a piece of Pistachio Pudding. I used mine all up! Glad I had some of the Gold Soiree DSP in my stash. It's on the Clearance Rack right now for super cheap. Go get yourself some!!

Here is the sketch SC562:

I've always enjoyed playing along with the Splitcoast Challenges. I'm glad I could join in this week. Hopefully it will fit into my schedule more often. Challenges are a great way to get your creativity moving. And it's fun to see others stampers take on the challenges.

DCBD122 and CTD37 and Easter!

Hi! Today's card is another combined challenge card. If I don't combine them, I don't get to play in as many as I want! Plus, when someone tells you what colors to use and what sketch to do, it makes it soooooo much easier to create! The colors for this card come from the Color Throwdown CTD37 blog. I love the color combos they come up with here are this weeks colors:

They are Cameo Coral, Sage Shadow, and Pink Piouette. Very pretty together and I would never have thought of it on my own!

The sketch is from yesterday's challenge over at Splitcoaststampers SC223.

And finally, I love playing in the Diva Coffee Break Design challenges because they do current Stampin' Up! only stuff. And you know how much I love Stampin' Up! They challenge this week DCBD122 is to use your Big Shot to make your card. I used the Daisies #2 Bigz die that makes a gorgeous flower when layered. Here's my card:

I really love how this turned out! I think I'll give it to my MIL for Mother's Day. You can't tell from this pic, but I also added texture to the leaves using my SU! Texturz Plates. The leaves are from the SU! Birds and Blooms die set. I love that SU! has so many exclusive dies. The DSP is from Candy Lane and the pearls and hat pin are from the Pretties Kit. The sentiment is from All Holiday's.

These next cards I made for my week of Easter projects. I made 14 of these and sent them to family and friends. I love the SAB Delicate Dots DSP and have some left. I used it for these cards:

The cross is from Refuge and Strength, the sentiment is from All Holiday's. The leaves are cut using the SU! Little Leaves Sizzlet and the flowers are punched with the Trio Flowers punch. The Scallop Oval punch is new from the Occasions Mini. Don't forget about the great promotion Stampin' Up! has going on during the month of April. Purchase $40 from the Occasions Mini Catalog and choose one free "under $10" item from page 208 of the Spring-Summer Idea Book and Catalog. Free is always good!

Have a great day!
Happy Stamping!

Sketch Challenge 221 & a Woo Hoo!

Well, I finally had a chance to partcipate in a challenge over at Splitcoast. It seems like forever since I've had a chance to "play". Today's challenge is the Sketch Challenge SC221. I love sketch challenges the best. Takes most of the pressure off. Combine a sketch challenge with a color challenge and my stamping life is a breeze! For today's card I used some images I had stamped last night with my Technique Club. I showed them the baby wipe technique. At first I was a little put off with this technique, but once I tried it, WOW! I love it! So fun and easy! I'll show you my card first:

I just LOVE how it turned out! It's so much more than I usually do. It's so heavy, I'm sure it will cost extra to mail. I rarely add this many layers, but the colorful flowers really needed all that solid color behind them.

The baby wipe technique is fairly simple. You take three colors of re-inkers. Drop them onto a baby wipe and use it as your stamp pad. If you want to find out more, check out the baby wipe tutorial in the Resource section at SCS.

The colors I used were inspired by the SU! DSP Rasberry Tart, one of my fave papers right now. The colors of ink I used are Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss, and Pretty in Pink. The stamp set I used for the flowers is Petal Pizzazz. You need a nice solid image for this technique. A lined image would not work. The sentiment comes from the Level 1 Hostess set Sweet Little Sentiments. The flowers are cut out by hand and attached with dimensionals. There's lots of layers and dimension on this card, which I love.

My Woo Hoo! for the day is I found out that I won a card challenge contest on Diva Coffe Break Designs blog. How fun is that! I've never won a card contest before. You can check out my card here. I'll be looking forward to my fun goodies arriving in the mail.

February BVC09

Well, I finally had time today to upload something to my blog! I've been crafting, but I just don't seem to find enough time to stamp something, take a picture, edit the picture and then post it. I don't know how these gals do it everyday! Today's card is a combination of four different challenges. I know some folks who don't like the mixing of challenges, but I just don't have the time to do them all separately, so I usually combine a few. This is the first time I've combined four challenges. I've done three before, but never four. It started off, because I knew I wanted to do the Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge BVC09 over at SCS. When I looked at the Ways To Use It Challenge WT205, which was to use fabric, I thought sure, I could do that. I also knew I was going to use Wednesday's Sketch Challenge SC215, and Tuesday's Color Challenge CC205. So here there are in ONE 4x4 card!

I love these colors together: Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss and Perfect Plum. Really great Valentine colors. The fabric that I used is the pink fake fur. I used my Big Shot to cut out the flower shape. I've decided that I need to start purchasing more fabric and using it with my Big Shot. It cuts through it so easily! I used my SU! Bigz XL die Baskets and Blooms for this flower. I wanted to add a heart somewhere, because of the words in the verse, so I chose to use a piece of chipboard. I love the glittery look, but I wished I would have thought to use Heat and Stick powder. The Fine Cosmo glitter is falling off all over the place. I just smooshed the chipboard piece into my White Craft ink and sprinkled it with glitter. It's not sticking too well. The Bible verse stamp is from Verve. It's part of their Plain Jane collection. This verse has been a favorite of mine since jr. high school. It really helped me through some tough years of high school and college. I really took this promise to heart. I knew that if I just kept my eyes and heart focused on God, He would take care of the rest. And He still does! What I love about these stamps is the way they incorporate different fonts to highlight certain words. I just love that! What I'm not crazy about is that they are acrylic. I love the see-though capabilities, but I still don't think you get a clear, crisp image like you do with rubber. Sorry! I'm not a fan yet! Everything but the verse and the fake fur is SU!

Sketch Challenge 209

Well, it's been forever since I've been able to do a Sketch Challenge SC209 over at SCS, but today I finally was able to join in the fun again. I also used the Dirty Dozen December Inspiration Challenge DINSP1208. I love the August calendar page with the pink, orange and red cluster of flowers. I just love letterpress printed stuff. My cousin Denise and I took a class once in San Fransico where we learned all about the art of letterpress. We even got to use the machines. It was a ton of fun. If I had the money and the means, I would invest in a letterpress machine. A girl can dream can't she?! Anywhoo... here's my card:

I used all Stampin Up! products (aka SUO). I used Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White. I have such a hard time deciding when a card is "done". I think I should have stopped a little sooner with this card. There's a few too many layers, but I still like it.

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy New Year!

Sketch Challenge 197

Hi! My card for today is from the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers. You should check out the great SC gallery. I was inspired by the Ghostly Greetings DSP from SU! It's such cute paper. I love the print with the different colored pumpkin faces on the white background.

This card is mostly Stampin' Up! (MSU). Everything but the Cuttlebug Embossing. Even the white brads are SU! I took some Certainly Celery brads, inked them up with White Staz-on, and then with White Craft Ink. Then I dipped them in white embossing powder and heat set them. YAY! White brads! The pumpkins and sentiment are embossed with black EP and the smiley faces are embossed with white EP.
