ColourQ #70

Hi Stamping Friends!!
It's ColourQ Tuesday and Arielle gave us some yummy colors to work with this week.  I told you she was a sweetie!  I just LOVE this color combo and it was very fun being able to work with the retired Cameo Coral.  That was one of the SU! colors I was sad to see go.

Stamps:  Crazy For Cupcakes, Birthday Bliss, Tart and Tangy
Paper:  Early Espresso, Blushing Bride, Poppy Parade, Cameo Coral, Whisper White, Pattern Prints Pack DSP, Pink Flamingo DSP (retired)
Accessories:  Scallop Circle Punch, Circle Punches, White Satin Ribbon, Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Crystal Effects
Techniques: Paper Piecing

Sketch Challenge:  Sweet Sunday Sketch SSSC102

I know, not very original with the cupcake, but how can you look at that darling apron and not want to stamp a yummy cupcake?!!  I really love how this card turned out.  Except for my one "duh!" moment. After I added Crystal Effects to the "sprinkles" I wondered why didn't I color them Poppy Parade before I made them so pretty and shiny?  I suppose they could just be sugar crystals instead of sprinkles, but it would have just added that little extra "wow" if they had been another color.

I hope you have a chance to stop by the ColourQ this week and see all the sweet creations from the other Design Team members.  Maybe it will inspire you to stamp something yummy as well!

Stop by tomorrow for My Digital Studio Digi Wednesday.  I found a fun year-long scrap challenge I want to participate in.  And I just bought a TON of new downloads for My Digital Studio (and got to reap the benefits of Sale-A-Bration!).  At the rate it took to download just one pack of digi DSP, it may take me two years to get everything onto my computer.  :)

Cupcake SFYTT

Hi Stamping Friends!

Sorry I'm posting a little late today.  I just didn't have any stamping mojo in me yesterday, while it was daylight, so I had to wait to take a picture of my card this morning.  'Course being on the West Coast puts me really behind most of you!

Isn't that bow just obnoxious?!  I think I'll take it off before I try and sell it.  I just stuck it on with a Dimensional.  You can barely see the sketch under there!

This card combines two challenges.  The first is one of my new favorite challenges, the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge over at the Hope Stamps Eternal blog.  This is CIC56.  The second challenge is the Sketch For You To Try over at Jen Del Muro's blog, i{heart}2stamp

The colors I used are Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom, Pretty In Pink, and Very Vanilla.  The cupcake image comes from the Crazy For Cupcakes set.  The sentiment comes from Wow Flowers.

Be sure to check out my new inspiration challenge blog tomorrow, STAMPIN' CELEBRATION.  We will be announcing our Design Team.  And I'm so excited to share these awesome stampers with you!

Also, on Friday, you'll want to come back here again for the most fabulous STAMPIN' ADDICTS blog hop ever!  We will be showcasing all the amazing items out of the new Stampin' Up! Summer Mini catalog.

Doubly Sweet Challenges

Hi Stamping Friends!

Have you ever made a card that just makes you smile every time you look at it?  Well that's what this card does for me.  I just LOVE how it turned out!!

Isn't it yummy?!  I combined two "sweet" challenges for this card.  The colors were inspired from the HOPE STAMPS ETERNAL blog.  This is Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #54 CIC54.  The sketch comes from THE SWEET STOP sketch challenge blog.  This is Sweet Stop Sketch #51 SSS51.

Isn't this a super fun sketch?!  Just the right amount of details without being busy.  For my inspiration, I used the front cupcake and chose the colors Regal Rose, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, and Very Vanilla.  And of course I had to use a cupcake!  Plus I loved the rose itself and the little lacey leaves.  My card base is Chocolate Chip layered with Old Olive and Regal Rose that has been embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder.  The DSP is from the Sending Love Specialty pack, that is still available through April 30th.  The cupcake image comes from the Crazy For Cupcakes set, and the sentiment comes from Birthday Bliss.  I used my SU! markers to color the cupcakes and I blinged up the frosting with a little Dazzling Diamonds.  The roses were made using the Flower Fusion Sizzlet die and the leaves are made with the Little Leaves Sizzlet.

Crazy Cupcake

Hi Stamping Friends!

Sorry for the late post today.  I finished this card last night, but the sun didn't shine until this afternoon for me to get a decent photo.  Oh well!  This card uses the Saturday sketch challenge from the STAMPING 411 blog SSC145.  It also uses the color challenge from my favorite Stamping Up! hangout STAMPIN ADDICTS SACC49.  Stampin' Addicts is a Positively Creative, Postively Stampin' Up! website.  All the galleries and discussions are exclusive to Stampin' Up! products.  And best of all, the gallery is organized by stamp set name, so you can look up all kinds of fabulous ideas!!

Here's the sketch, which I love by the way!

And the colors to use were Taken With Teal, Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Rich Razzleberry, and Pumpkin Pie.  Nice bright summery colors!

And here's the card I made:

I paper pieced the cupcake image using the DSP from the Sweet Pea pack tht is in the Occasions mini catalog.  The cupcake image is from Crazy For Cupcakes.  The happy birthday image is from Four Square.

Cupcake Crazy!!

Hi Stamping Friends!

I'm sure you all getting a little tired of cupcake cards.  I know I am!  But when I read about the Tuesday Technique Challenge on my favorite Stampin' Up! online hangout, Stampin Addicts, I just had to pull out the Crazy For Cupcakes set again!  The challenge is Faux Tile Tech31 and I decided to make one of those cards that look like the window of a bakery.  The color challenge is from the Cards & Things Challenge blog.

Now this was my first time using the Glassy Glaze Enamel Embossing Powder, so things got a little messy.  So be gentle.  Here's my bakery shop card:

The light cast a funky sheen over the "window", but IRL it's nice and shiny.  Next Tuesday I'll post instructions on how to do the Faux Tile technique.  I'm thinking of making Tuesday's "How To Tuesday".  The card base is Chocolate Chip layered with Mellow Moss.  The "curtain" is a piece of Rose Red Stitched Grograin.  To make the ruffle, I pulled on the top stitch and knotted the ends of the white thread.  The brads help hold it all in place.

Crazy For Cupcakes

Hi Stamping Friends!

I've told you about having my cards for sale at Goodies Cookies in Visalia.  Well I was so excited about having to make more cards (and use up lots of leftover stuff!) that I made about 70 cards!  I brought more of them over there on Tuesday.  I also went out on a limb and stopped at a new cupcake bakery, also in Visalia, called the Frosted Muffin.  I stopped in to see if they would be interested in selling my cards as well.  Now I'm just a nervous wreck waiting to hear back from them!  So I decided to use that nervous energy to make a cupcake card, in hopes that I will have a place to sell it!

Of course I combined two challenges.  The color challenge comes from Stacey's Stamping Stage Curtain Call Act 9.  And I have to say, that this was a tough color combo!  The sketch is based on the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge SSSC42 from Karen Giron's blog: the sweetest thing.

Please try to ignore the ugly photo.  I took it after dark (darn this time change!) and couldn't get enough light on it. And I don't like to use my flash.  So here it is:

If you're wondering where the Real Red is, it's on the cherries!  They are also nice and shiny with Crystal Effects.  I added some Crushed Curry "sprinkles" to the frosting.  As you can see, I took some liberties with the sketch, but I think I still stayed close to the original.  The card base is Pink Passion layered with Basic Black and then Whisper White.  The ribbon is Crushed Curry Polka Dot Grosgrain.  Everything else is pretty self-explanatory.  Well here's hoping I'll be able to sell this one at the Frosted Muffin!

Inspiration from the Colour Queen

Hi Stamping Friends!

While doing my daily blog hopping (too bad you couldn't burn calories with this type of hopping... I think I'd be a size 6 again!) I came across another new (to me) color challenge called ColourQ.  I combined it with Gretchen Barron's Inspiration Sketch Challenge IA106.  Here are the two challenge images:

And here's the birthday card I came up with:

I hadn't inked up this particular stamp in the Crazy for Cupcakes set, because I'm not a lover of coloring and I didn't know what else to do with this image, until I thought of paper piecing!  And now I love this image!  Aren't these colors fun?!  I know the challenge pic shows Halloween images, but I need birthday cards, and I think this combo works great for it.  The card base is Pumpkin Pie layered with Pale Plum.  I used the Polka Dot background stamp on the Pale Plum layer.  You can't see it, but the flame on the candle has Dazzling Diamonds on it.  A little sparkle never hurt anyone!  And I love the feel of our Satin Ribbon.  So luxurious!

If you are ever driving down the 198 heading to the Sequoia National Forest, stop off at Mary's Vineyard shopping center and go to Goodies Cookies.  Pick yourself up a yummy, gourmet cookie and one of my hand-created, one-of-a-kind, unique creations!  And if you do, tell them Krystal sent you.

Diva Disaster!

Hi Stamping Friends!

I couldn't wait to partcipate in the sketch challenge over at the Diva Coffee Break Designs blog DCBD145! I tried to use a stamp set I haven't touched in awhile. I tried to come up with an unusual color combo. I tried to be creative. But all I really ended up doing was making a mess! :)

So here's my first attempt at this sketch:

UGH! Isn't it awful?! It's like a train wreck. Your eye doesn't even know what to look at 'cause there's so much (TOO MUCH!) going on. The stamp set is Fresh Cuts. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. The DSP is Autumn Traditions, which is how I came up with the color combo... Always Artichoke, Elegant Eggplant, Ruby Red, More Mustard and Soft Suede. Really too many colors to try and fit on to one little card front! Because this card was such a disaster, I could not sleep until I had redeemed myself.

This is my second attempt at using this sketch:

Isn't it so much cuter?! I used the Crazy For Cupackes set. The sentiment is from Wow Flowers. The DSP is Razzleberry Lemonade. The colors are Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, and Crushed Curry. The Pumpkin Pie panel is embossed using the new SU! Impressions Folder called Petals-A-Plenty in the Holiday Mini. Even though there are just as many panels and colors going on, this card is easier to look at!

Of course I also have another Christmas Jingle card to show you. We're on card #12. Only 8 more to go! We are going to have a blast at this Stamp Camp. You don't want to miss it!!
