Sketch Girl!

Hi Stamping Friends!

Well I found another challenge to participate in.  As if I didn't have enough challenges to play in already!  This is a bi-weekly sketch challenge blog called SKETCH GIRL!  And this is their sketch #15.

I used the color challenge from my favorite online Stampin' Up! community, STAMPIN' ADDICTS.  If you love SU! products as much as I do, you should come hang out with us!!  This is for challenge SACC50.  The colors to use are Ruby Red, More Mustard, and Pumpkin Pie.  My first thought was, oh, those are fall colors.  But after looking at a couple of the samples, I changed my mind.  They really are beautiful for spring colors too.

This card also fits the theme challenge going on at the PALS PAPER ARTS blog, which is to use flowers.  Well now, that's an easy challenge!

Here's my card:

Don't those colors look happy together?!  The card base is Pumpkin Pie.  The MM DSP strip is from the Welcome Neighbor Pad that was available during SAB.  The PP DSP strip is from the Sweet Pea Pad that is available in the Occasions Mini catalog, through the end of April.  This is one of my all-time favorite DSP packs!  If you haven't ordered it yet, you should!!  So many great patterns in it.  The Ruby Red DSP is from the Autumn Tradition pack in the regular catalog.  The flower images are from a new stamp set called Awash With Flowers.  It is a sneek peak set that will be in the new catalog in July.  But the cool thing is you can get it now!  I LOVE this set so much more than I thought I would.  I bought it in Clear Mount and am so happy I did.  Expect to see lots more of this stamp set!  The sentiment comes from the On A Pedestal set.

That's it for today.  Come back tomorrow to see my creations for the ColourQ color challenge.  Yes, I did say creationS!  I never seem stop at just one card.  I don't think I'll do that every week, but Saturday is my stamping day and I just love to keep on stamping!

I'm still tossing around the idea of starting my own challenge blog.  It would be an inspiration challenge, using party/entertaining ideas as inspiration.  I'm thinking of calling it Stampin' Celebration.  Whadya think?  Crazy huh!  I'll keep you posted of whether or not I go through with it.

Crazy Cupcake

Hi Stamping Friends!

Sorry for the late post today.  I finished this card last night, but the sun didn't shine until this afternoon for me to get a decent photo.  Oh well!  This card uses the Saturday sketch challenge from the STAMPING 411 blog SSC145.  It also uses the color challenge from my favorite Stamping Up! hangout STAMPIN ADDICTS SACC49.  Stampin' Addicts is a Positively Creative, Postively Stampin' Up! website.  All the galleries and discussions are exclusive to Stampin' Up! products.  And best of all, the gallery is organized by stamp set name, so you can look up all kinds of fabulous ideas!!

Here's the sketch, which I love by the way!

And the colors to use were Taken With Teal, Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Rich Razzleberry, and Pumpkin Pie.  Nice bright summery colors!

And here's the card I made:

I paper pieced the cupcake image using the DSP from the Sweet Pea pack tht is in the Occasions mini catalog.  The cupcake image is from Crazy For Cupcakes.  The happy birthday image is from Four Square.

It's a K.I.S.S.... maybe!

Hi Stamping Friends!

Well today's card is for a few different challenges.  Four to be exact!  Not very often that I get four challenges into one, but this time I did.  I've seen cards where people say they did like 15,000 challenges with that one card.  I don't have time to write down that many challenges, let alone post to all of them!  So four is my max... I think!

The first challenge comes from my favorite online Stampin' Up! hangout, Stampin' Addicts.  If you love Stampin' Up! products, you should come visit SA.  We are always looking for other SU! lovers to join in on the fun!  Friday is always the Color Challenge.  This challenge SACC40 calls for So Saffron, Always Artichoke, and Rich Razzleberry.  The sketch comes from the Clean & Simple blog.  This is their Fall To Layout FTL70.  Here's a pic of the layout:

I also played along in the Pals Paper Arts challenge PPA18 which is to Keep It Simple Stamper, aka a K.I.S.S. card.  A K.I.S.S. card has:
-- Lots of "white" space
-- Simple designs
-- Minimum time to create
-- Limited layers and embellishments

My 11yo DD and I spent some time getting out Christmas decorations yesterday.  I'm tryng to get ready for my Stampin' Up! Holiday Open House on Sunday Dec. 13th.  If you live in the Hanford/Visalia/Tulare area, you should stop by!  This has put me in the Christmas spirit already, so I just had to make a Christmas card.  Which was perfect for the fourth and final challenge.  It comes from a great SA friend, Cindy, on her blog Heart's Delight.  She put out a challenge to use non-traditional colors on your Christmas cards.  I have a few of those planned this week, so I may be linking to her blog quite a few times!  Here's the card I came up with for all four challenges:

Now I know what some of you are thinking... that's not very "simple".  Well, I beg to differ.  :)  This is simple for me!  There's lot of unused or "white" space.  It's a simple layout (thanks to the Clean & Simple blog!).  It took hardly no time to make.  And it only has three layers and two embellishments.  And if you still don't believe me, check this out:

This is the same card after I gussied it up.  I put it on a Whisper White card base.  Stamped another pointsettia in Always Artichoke and then used it for some "leaves".  I added another ribbon, plus some paper piercing under the sentiment.  I also added a bunch of Always Artichoke brads to the So Saffron textured layer.  Now this card is NOT simple!  :)  And these are NOT traditional Christmas colors... perfect for Cindy's challenge!

I love how the Christ Is Born pointsettia perfectly matches the Petal-A-Plenty Impressions Folder.  It's like the were meant for each other!  Expect to see more of this pair throughtout the Christmas season.

Remember to check out the HUGE SALE going on at MY STAMPIN' UP! WEBSITE.  The sale only lasts through Monday, so SHOP NOW for some great savings!

It's Diva Time!

Hi Stamping Friends!

My double challenge card for today comes from two of my favorite challenge places.  The sketch challenge comes from the Diva Coffe Break Designs blog DCBD155.  I love that it is an SU! design team and challenge.  Don't get me wrong, there are lots of fabulous stamps out ther, I just happen to LOVE Stampin' Up!  :)  And I love to see what the design team has to offer.  They are a tlented group of stampers.  The color challenge comes from my favorite SU! online hangout, STAMPIN' ADDICTS.  They have a different challenge for each day of the week.  Come play along with us!  The Friday challenge is the color challenge.  This was last week's challenge, so I can't wait to see what the colors are today!  Here's the sketch:

The colors were Really Rust, Taken With Teal, Chocolate Chip, and More Mustard.  I needed to make a card for a family who just had a baby boy, and thought these were great boy colors.  Here's what I came up with:

The card base is Chocolate Chip.  The Designer Series Paper is retired.  It is from last years Holiday Mini Catalog.  It was called Autumn Vine.  I just couldn't resist using it, since it went so well with the color challenge!  The stamp set is Nursery Necessities.  The Taken With Teal layers are embossed with the Perfect Details Texturz Plate.  The sentiment is punched out with the Word Window punch and layered on to a piece of More Mustard that is punched with the Modern Label Punch.

While your shopping for all those holiday deals this weekend, don't forget to shop at the HUGE SALE going on at my Stampin' Up! WEBSITE, now through Monday.  You can save between 30%-50% on some of your favorite products!

Holiday Extravaganza!

Hi Stamping Friends!
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  Our family spent a few days on the beautiful Central California coast.  My 2 oldest kiddos had a swim meet in Arroyo Grande.  The weather was a perfect 72 degrees, with just enough ocean breeze to keep you from getting too warm.  We had a great time and the kids swam their best.  My 13ds even made the Junior Olympic cut for the 100 yard freestyle!  Needless to say, I did not get much stamping done.  Thankfully I had some posts scheduled for my blog.  And I was able to stay updated with hubby's Iphone, so my stamping life didn't come to a complete halt.  As soon as I got home, I got out the ink and started playing.

This double challenge card gets the sketch from Techno Stamper TSSC94

and the monochromatic color scheme from my favorite online stamping hangout, Stampin' Addicts SACC36.  For the color challenge we could use any color we wanted, but we had to limit it to three shades.  We could also use the nuetrals of Whisper White or Very Vanilla.  I chose shades of brown: Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede and Sahara Sand.  I also used Whipser White.  I decided to finally use a Christmas stamp.  I'm sure you're all tired of my birthday cards!  Here's what I came up with:

What do you think?  Does brown work for Christmas?  The card base is Chocolate Chip and is layered with Sahara Sand that has been embossed using the new Texturz Plate Perfect Details.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Holiday Mini, called Christmas Cocoa Specialty.  This piece has a sparkly shimmer to it.  There are other pieces in the pack that have velvet flocking on them.  So cool!  I embossed the tree from Snow Swirled with Winter White embossing powder.  The Merry Christmas sentiment comes from the set A Cardinal Christmas.  The snowflake embellishment came about because I accidentally touched that area of the cardstock with Versamark ink and it left a dark spot.  As they say... there are no mistakes, just opportunities for embellishment!

Stampin' Up! is having a fabulous Holiday Extravaganza promotion.  Make Stampin' Up! your one-stop shop for all your gift giving needs.  With our Gift Giving Guide you can easily find gifts for kids, teens, neighbors, and more! Hippie Inspiration

Hi Stamping Friends!

Our internet stared acting crazy on Friday and by Sunday we had nadda... zero... zilch!  And for this challenge addict, that was a HUGE bummer!  My fabulous hubby spent the better part of last night on the phone with some tech guys and got it all figured out.  Now we are all connected again, and I can catch up on the challenges I missed.  Who knew I would miss being online so much!

Today's double challenge card takes the sketch from Gretchen Barron's blog: Inspiration in Action and the color combo from my favorite online stamping hangout Stampin' Addicts.  The color combo was called Hippie Holloween.  Isn't that fun!  The colors are Dusty Durango, Certainly Celery and Rich Razzleberry.  Quite the combo!  Here's the sketch:

I ended up flipping the sketch.  I also went with the hippie theme of flowerchild.  Here's the card I came up with:

How fun is that?!  I used the Petal Pizzazz set for my flowers.  The sentiment comes from Good Friend.  I made the Dusty Durango Corduroy Button by dripping Dusty Durango ink onto a Baja BReeze button.  I heat set it and dabbed off the extra ink.  Carol Anne from Stamp Your Stress Away gave me this fabulous idea.

Petal Pizzazz  #113417  $32.95

Fifth Ave. Color Challenge

Hi Stamping Friends!

Today's card uses the Friday Color Challenge over at my favorite place to hang out, Stamping Addicts.  If you love all things Stampin' Up!, then you really need to come hang out with us!  The gallery is filling up everyday with more Stampin' Up! goodness.  And you know I'm trying my best to do my part!  These colors are from last weeks color challenge SACC34.  They are Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, So Saffron, and Not Quite Navy.  Here's my card:

I really like how this turned out.  I used the card in the Stampin' Up! catalog for my inspiration.  I would have liked to have added a Not Quite Navy strip of cardstock right above the So Saffron layer, but I couldn't find a scrap of it.  And I could not justify cutting into a whole sheet of cardstock for one lousy inch!  Some may call me cheap... I prefer to refer to myself as frugal!  The Saffron and Olive flowers were heat embossed using White EP.  The Saffron layer was embossed with the Manhattan Flower Impressions Folder.  And I'm still in love with this Striped Grosgrain Ribbon!  It was the Ribbon of the Month for October and I sold all the packs I had... because it's so gorgeous!  The half-backed pearl comes from the Pretties Kit.

Yay For Me! (And a challenge card too!)

Hi Stamping Friends!

You know how much I love playing in challenges! Well, I'm so excited because one of my favorite challenge blogs Pals Paper Arts has chosen my card as one of its winning entries this week!

I love the PPA Design Team because they are all Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  And I'm all about anything SU!

I do have a new card for you today as well.  This card was made using last weeks Color Challenge over at Stampin' Addicts SACC32.  The colors are Kraft, Soft Suede, Old Olive, and Real Red.  The sketch came from Makeesha Byl's (another SU! demo) blog: Inkspirations.  Here's the sketch:

So here's my card:

The colors just screamed CHRISTMAS, so I went with it.  It looks alot like Renee Van Straalen's card, not intentionally.  But there is only so much you can do with the same sketch and stamp set!  :)  Besides, who wouldn't want to CASE Renee?!  Her cards are gorgeous!  The one thing that would make this card better, is if I had used an Impressions Folder on the Old Olive layer under the Real Red layer.  It's a little boring.  Oh well!  Next time I'll have to be more on the ball!  The stamps I used were Dasher and Four The Holidays for the sentiment.  Dasher is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Dasher  #116816  $8.95

Four The Holidays  #116921  $13.95

Don't forget about the Deals Of The Week special going on at my Stampin' Up! website.  Here's what on sale, in case you forgot:

Hi Stamping Friends!

Stampin' Up! has just announced the DEAL OF THE WEEK!

Flower Burst Embosslit Die  #114515  reg. $11.95   SALE PRICE $5.99

Perfect Setting Bigz XL Die  #115961  reg. $42.95  SALE PRICE $25.99

3 Tier Cake Pop-Up Die  #116760  reg. $39.95  SALE PRICE $25.49

I'd show you some beautiful samples using these awesome products, but I don't have them... YET!  I will be ordering all three of these items, to increase the size of my Stampin' Up! Sizzix collection.  But I can show you a card I did make with other fabulous Stampin' Up! products.  Yes, it's another double challenge card.  I used the Color Challenge over at Stampin' Addicts SACC33.  And I used this sketch from Stamping 411 SSC120.

I finally got the Thoughts and Prayers set and wanted to use it.  But in order for it to work, I had to flip the sketch.

I'm so glad I finally got this set.  I love how this card turned out.  The colors are Ruby Red, Old Olive and Apricot Appeal.  I embossed the Apricot Appeal layer with Finial Press Impressions Folder #115963.  The corners of the Whisper White layer are punched using the Ticket Corner Punch #107214.
I'm trying to make a habit of mailing cards every Monday.  I figure if I mail 2 or 3 each week, it gives me a reason to keep stamping!  There are lots of people that could use a little smile in their mailbox.

Quick Post!!

Hi Stamping Friends!

Just wanted to leave a quick post, as I'm short on time this evening. This first card is one I created for two challenges over at Stampin' Addicts, my new hangout. I love this website because it is almost entirely Stampin' Up! stuff, which I'm all about! This card is a combination sketch challenge and color combo challenge. I really love how it turned out!

The colors are Basic Black, Basic Gray, Pale Plum and Rich Razzleberry. Don't ya love it?! I never would have done this color combo on my own, that's why I love challenges... gets you outside your box. And we all know I need to get outside my box every once in awhile! The stamp sets I used are Just Jawing and Extreme Elements (a current fave!).

The second card is another Christmas Jingle card.

I really wish I was a better photographer, because these cards are so much cuter IRL! Anyhoo! Remember ther Christmas Jingle Early Bird Special ends October 1st!

PPA7 and SACC30 and CJ4

Weird title post! Sounds like some sort of secret code for something. Actually its the "keywords" for two challenges I played in today. The first PPA7 is for Pal Paper Arts, which is a blog of SU! demos who post challenges each week. You can find them HERE. This is the first time I've participated in one of their challenges. (Well lets face it... it's the first time I've done any stamping lately!) Here's the sketch:

The second keyword SACC30 is for Stampin' Addicts Color Challenge #30 found HERE. The colors to use for today's challenge were Summer Sun, Old Olive, Night of Navy, and Kraft. I've never paired these colors up before, but I really like them together! Here's the card I came up with after I combined both challenges:

I was pleasantly surprised at how cute it turned out. I used the Petal Pizzazz and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets. The Night of Navy strip is embossed using the new SU! Petals-A-Plenty Impressions Folder out of the Holiday Mini. I think they're supposed to be Poinsettias, but I think they look like regulare flowers too. The Olive Press DSP is retired. I bought it because OO is one of my favorite SU! colors. The silver brads come from the HPH set. I used the Modern Label punch to punch out the sentiment. I punched it out a couple of times to shorten it. The ribbon is Kraft Taffeta, another one of my faves! I had to make another Thank You card for all the great gifts I got for my birthday. Now if I would get motivated to send them!

So I'm sure you're wondering what the CJ4 stands for. Well it's for the 4th card in the Christmas Jingle series of course! I'm thinking of offering this class as a kit. If you are not able to make it to either the Nov. 14th or 15th class, I could still put a kit together for you and you could use your own stamp sets. The cost would still be $45 plus shipping if necessary. Don't forget to sign up ASAP as the registration deadline is Oct. 15th. So here's another fabulous Christmas Jingle card from the class:

Funny thing about this card. After I took the pick, my 11yo daughter was playing around with a Very Vanilla snowflake I had punched out, but didn't use. She layed it in the upper left-hand corner of this card and BAM! Perfection! So this card is even cuter than what you see here! The sentiment is from the Sincere Salutations stamp set.

Oh wow!!

I can't believe I haven't posted since April! Time sure flies doesn't it. Well, I'm back and I hope to keep blogging again. At least for a while. :) I joined a new stamping community called Stampin' Addicts. It's a very friendly place and I look forward to getting to know more paper fanatics like myself. They have lots of wonderful Stampin' Up! projects. I tried out their color challenge. Considering I haven't stamped since May, this was a challenge!

Basic Gray, Barely Banana and Whisper White. I used an old stand by set and sketch. I also want to show you what we did at the August Mystery Hostess Club night. Two fun projects with lots of purse-onality!

Aren't they cute!! I totally CASEd them from the gallery at SCS. They use the new in colors, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, and Melon Mambo. Plus the gorgeous DSP Razzleberry Lemonade. Stay tuned this week for more fun stuff. I put together 20 cards this weekend for my Christmas Jingle Card Class coming soon. I'll posting a card a day for 20 days. The class will cost $45. Not sure the date and time yet, but I'll let you know soon.
