Merry Christmas!!

Hi Stamping Friends!!

Merry Christmas!!  Here is the Christmas postcard I designed in My Digital Studio, that I never mailed.  If you want the full story of why I did not mail out Christmas cards this year, check out our "family" blog post: The Christmas Card Blues.

This is a pic of my three kiddos at my brother's wedding this past July.  15yo man-child was an usher, 6yo DS was the ring bearer (with 7 flower girls!!), and 13 yo DD got a pretty dress and hair-do "just because".  Can you see the nice "shiner" the 6yo is sportin'?  His 4yo cousin, the day before the wedding, decided to whack him in the eye with a hard plastic toy.  It was a big day of "firsts" for him.  First time being a ring bearer and the first time he had a black eye.  Great memories!!

I hope you are enjoying a blessed Christmas.  And since I'm not very original and like to CASE everything, I'm going to CASE a Stampin' Up! sentiment...

"May the miracle of Christmas
find you safe in the Peace of God,
warm in the light of Christ."

Merry Christmas!!!

8th Day of Christmas

Hi Stamping Friends!

Quick post today as I'm headed out the door to work.  Today's Christmas card was created with My Digital Studio.  I designed this for my sister.  She is the proud mother of two sets of twins.  Yes.  You read that correctly.  She gave birth TWO sets of twins!!  With no help from infertility treatments.  She needs no help.  She quite fertile all on her own, apparently.  :)

I designed their Christmas card last year as well using MDS:

My Digital Studio is a fun, simple way to design custom photo cards.  That way your Christmas card can be unique and won't look like every other persons card, who happens to shop at the same big box store as you.

I hope you are enjoying this last week of Advent and are looking forward to celebrating the reason for the season... JESUS!!

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Stamping!

ABC Scripture Challenge -E-

Hi Stamping Friends!
I'm posting later than usual today.  I didn't have much time to work on my ABC Scripture Challenge page for Patter Cross' challenge on her blog, Triple the Scraps.  One thing that tripped me up was I didn't connect with the word she chose for the letter -E-, so I changed mine.  She chose the word "easy", but I chose the word "everything".  I finally started excersing again and while I was listening to my iPod, the words from a song (which are really words from a Psalm!) stuck in my brain... "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord".  The thought that everything... the sky, the trees, the air, the entire world belongs to God alone, found a place in my heart.  It was a beautiful reminder that "I am not my own, but I belong, body and soul, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ."

To create this digital page, I used the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper and Brush Set for My Digital Studio.  Every Tuesday, Stampin' Up! offers new downloads for MDS.  It's so tempting to keep getting more MDS goodies.  But I've been trying to use all the yummy stuff I already have.  This page came together quickly since I used a fabulous sketch from the February 2011 sketches at PageMaps.

I hope you can stop back by tomorrow.  We have a new challenge over at the Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge and we want you to play along!

On Friday I plan on starting something new here at my blog.  I'm calling it For Real Friday.  I read a blog recently (can't remember which one.  I read too much stuff!) where she did a kind of weekly photo journalistic list of "stuff".  Family stuff, life stuff, etc.  I plan on doing something similar, but I will also include some stamping "stuff".  We will see how it goes.  I never thought I would use this blog for "personal" things, but I think it's time to branch out.  And since I did name it Krystal's Cards and More.  I think it's time to get to the "more" part.  :)  As Lysa TerKeurst (one of my Jesus girl heroes!) chatted on her blog today, I realized it was time for me to add a little "and then some" to my world.

Thanks for stopping by!

ABC Scripture Challenge -D-

Hi Stamping and (digi) Scrapping Friends!!
Today I have an 8x8 digital scrapbook page that was created using My Digital Studio.  I've been participating in an ABC Scripture Challenge hosted by Patter Cross on her blog: Triple the Scraps.  The letter for today is -D- for DELIGHT.  Patter writes, "Is your delight God and His Word?  Where are you seeking counsel---friends or His Word?  And do you know that God delights in you too?  He delights in us as we read His Word and obey it, when we follow Him, glorify Him, etc.  Zephaniah 3:17 says, "The Lord your God is with you.  He is mighty enough to save you.  He will take great delight in you.  The quietness of His love will calm you down.  He will sing with joy because of you."

What a great verse!!!  The thought that I can bring delight to God amazes me.  I was so excited to see that Patter had chosen the word DELIGHT for this challenge.  You know how pastors and Christian speakers and authors are always encouraging you to choose a "life verse"?  Well, it just so happens that one of my "life verses" uses the word delight!!!

DELIGHT

Digi Paper and Accessories:  Sweet Stitches DSP, Buttons, Fabric Buttons, and Pom-pom Trim
Sketch:  PageMaps

When I was 12 years old, I started babysitting for a family at our church.  They were so kind to me.  I babysat for them when they had 2 children and then 3 children and until they finally moved away when I was about 16.  I was extremely shy back then, and when they would drive me home after I babysat, they would pour encouragement into my life.  They were the first ones to share Psalm 37:4 with me.  And when the moved, they gave me a plaque that had that verse written on it.  I cherished it for many years.  Who knows, my mom may still even have it in a box somewhere!  It was a verse that got me through many trials and heartaches of the growing up years of high school and college.  It still brings me hope even now.  Knowing that God has good things planned for me, if I keep seeking after His own heart, and not my own.  What a blessing.  The other verse I found using BibleGateway, my favorite online Bible resource.  Look for any verse, in any translation.  Or do like me, just search the whole Bible for certain words.  It is such an easy to use reference.

ETA: I receive a daily devotion in my email box from Proverbs 31 Ministiries.  Today's devotion was so perfect for the challenge of DELIGHT, that I just had to add it!  Enjoy!

ABC Scripture Challenge -C-

Hi Stamping and Scrapping Friends!!
This 8x8 digital scrapbook page was created for the ABC Scripture Challenge hosted by Patter Cross.  The letter "C" is for Confindence.  Not "self" confidence, but "God" confidence.  Patter asks these questions," Do you rely on 'self' or do you rely on God?  Do you think you can go through each day on your own without ever needing to rely on God?"  She then goes on to say, "Ask God to help you recognize those times when you are self-confident and ask Him to replace it with His confidence instead.  Then watch and be in awe of what He does!".  What a wonderful reminder to daily put our confidence in what God can do through us!

Again, I used BibleGateway to search for verses.  Love this site!!  What an amazing tool to have at your fingertips.  No more flipping back and forth through a Concordance.  And you can look at so many Bible versions.  So cool!  The two verses I chose were my favorites from the beginning of my search, so that part was easy.  The difficult part was deciding on what look to have for this page.  I started with a sketch from PageMaps.  Oh what did I ever do before PageMaps?!!  Love, LOve, LOVE this site too!!  So much inspiration.  Next, I went through the recent downloads I purchased for My Digital Studio.  Two of my favorite "new-to-me" downloads are Love Letter DSP and Artistic Etchings stamps.  So that is how I began creating this page and the rest just sort of fell into place.

Some of you have asked what I plan to do with these pages.  When the challenge is over, I do plan on printing them into a book.  I think it's fun to feature just one DSP kit and/or stamp set on each page.  It will be a great way to showcase all the downloads available for My Digital Studio.  My "A" page used the Travel Kit.  The "B" page used the Sweet Pea kit.  And this page uses the Love Letters DSP and Artisitc Etchings stamps.  With all the new downloads Stampin' Up! keeps offering, there will be plenty of them to feature for 26 pages!!  Stampin' Up! just came out with more new downloads on Tuesday.  You can now download the My Digital Studio Catalog in PDF format.  CLICK HERE

If you are interested in purchasing My Digital Studio or any of the MDS downloads, check out my Stampin' Up! website.  If you want to see more cards and/or scrapbook pages designed with My Digital Studio, check out the My Digital Studio online community.  It is a wonderful place find out all the lastest digi tips and tricks.

Yesterday I said I was going to share some fun news with you. Well, the pages I have been creating for the ABC Scripture Challenge were chosen by Shelli Gardner, the cofounder and CEO of Stampin' Up!, as a winner for her New Year Creative Challenge!!  Isn't that so exciting!!!!  Check out the link to the post on her blog, So Shelli.  Let me tell you, I was doin' the happy dance when I received the email telling me I my projects had won!  I am so thrilled and honored that she (the real Shelli Gardner!!) chose my MDS digi creations.  I've only just started playing around with the program and still consider myself a newbie to digi scrapping.  The best part about winning, is that I got to pick out one stamp set of my choice, from the current catalog.  I knew exactly what I wanted, Fabulous Phrases.  I can't wait until it comes!!  I've been wanting it forever!

That's enough chatter from me for one day.  I hope you visit again tomorrow.  It's Stampin' Celebration time and we have another fabulous inspiration challenge for you.

Thanks for stopping by!

ABC Scripture Challenge -B-

Hi Stamping and Scrapping Friends!
Today's My Digital Studio page is for the ABC Scripture Challenge hosted by Patter Cross.  The letter "B" is for Bible.  In her lesson on the Bible, Patter says, "The truth of God's Word transcends generations.  It is powerful and effective, and it points people to who God is."  I love the peace in knowing that God's Word never changes.  It is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, for every generation.

I chose two verses.  I love going to BibleGateway and searching for verses.  It is so cool, because you can just put in a word (or words) and it searches the whole Bible and finds every verse that contains that word!!  It also has tons of different translations.  I always have such a hard time choosing which verses to put on the page.  They are all so meaningful!  I chose the Isaiah verse, because it paints such a wonderful word picture of the grass and the flower fading.  And the verse from Proverbs came from my One Year Bible.  I always love when you are studying one thing and it pops up somewhere else.  It's like God is tapping you on the shoulder and saying, "Looky here!!  I'm trying to tell you something!!".  :)

This 8x8 page uses the Sweet Pea Designer Series Kit for My Digital Studio.  After I read the verse from Isaiah, I knew I wanted a page with lots of flowers on it (even though they are not fading!).  The hardest part of this page was layering the flowers.  It's hard to decide what should be on top and what should be underneath and what needs to be turned a little this way or a little that way.  To make the curvy look, I added a square punch of the Old Olive polka dotted paper to each corner and then covered it with the flowers.  As usual, the layout comes from my all-time favorite scrap sketch site, PageMaps.  I don't know why I bother looking anywhere else.  I love every layout they have every created!!!

I hope you will stop back by tomorrow!  I will have a "lovely" card for you for the Stampin' Celebration Challenge.  We hope you can play along and celebrate with us!!

Thanks for stopping by!

ABC Scripture Challenge -A-

-A- IS FOR ANCHOR

Hi Stamping and Scrapping Friends!!
A few years back I found a challenge that combined two of my favorite things, the Bible and scrapbooking!  I was so excited when I recently ran across Patter Cross's blog, Triple the Scraps, and found out that this year she is doing another Bible/scrap challenge called the ABC Scripture challenge.  Of course since I am loving My Digital Studio so much, I decided to take up the challenge digi style!!  This page is 8x8.  I'm hoping to turn these into an album to showcase My Digital Studio.  I used alot of elements from the Travel Journal Digital Kit.

In her lesson on ANCHOR, Patter says, "If we are not anchored to God, we drift.  We waiver in our realtionship with Him, and then we feel like we will drown in the storms of life.  God not only knows what is going on in your life, He has the power to help you deal with it."  That is so reassuring to me!!  I need to remember everyday to keep myself anchored to the One who can keep me secure during those storms in my life.

What I love about Patter's scripture challenges is there are no photos required!  I had never scrapped without photos before.  The first time I tried it, I felt a new sense of creative freedom.  I could create anything I wanted!!!  No birthday parties or Christmas pages or pictures of the first day of school.  It was really thrilling.  I'm not sure why I stopped participating in that challenge.  I'm sure life just got in the way.  I should go back and finish the 2009 study, which was called His Holy Name.  Just last week (after the computer virus incident) I deleted all my old card photos.  They are saved on an external hard drive, but I was trying to free up space on my desktop.  So the only copies I could find of the scrap pages I did back in 2009 was in my gallery at Splitcoast Stampers.  The photo quality is horrible, but I thought it would be fun to show them to you.

My favorite page of these is the Creator one.  It just makes me smile.  :)

If you have any questions about how My Digital Studio works, email me.  I'd be happy to "chat" with you!

I hope you can stop back by tomorrow.  It will be time for another inspiration challenge over at the Stampin' Celebration Challenge.  You won't want to miss what we are celebrating next!

Digi Wednesday

Hi Stamping and Scrapping Friends!
This year I decided I wanted to be more organized in my blog posting.  I don't just mean posting more.  I mean sort of like regularly scheduled posts.  Just like your TV, you know what day of the week your favorite cable/television programs will be aired.  I'm trying to "air" my posts on the same days of each week.  This is what it looks like so far:

Challenge Monday
ColourQ Tuesday
Digi Wednesday
Stampin' Celebration Thursday
Digi Friday
Surprise Saturday
Krystal's Favorites Sunday

Of course this is apt to change at any time!  Especially if I get to participate in a Stampin' Addicts Blog Hop, like I am this weekend.  This time we will be featuring lots of great stamp sets that you can get FREE with your $50 Stampin' Up! order.

As you can see, I added two days of digital stuff.  I am absolutely loving My Digital Studio and I can't stop playing with it!!  I remember now just how much I love scrapbooking.  This has really inspired me to do something with all the pictures that are just being stored on my computer.  It has also inspired me to take more photos!  I don't take near as many pictures as I used to.  Your kids get older and the camera comes out less and less.  I plan on remedying that this year.  I also ran across an ABC Scripture Challenge for 2011.  I participated in one back in 2009 and am excited to try it again.  This time using My Digital Studio!

Today's digi page is of my 12yo DD.  I read on a blog at the beginning of the year about choosing a "one word prayer" for your child for the whole year.  Something that you could easily pray for them daily.  I tried to think of how I wanted to encourage her this year.  I had lots of ideas, but it was difficult to put them into just one word.  I chose the word "heart".  I almost chose "grace" since that is her middle name, but she is only 12, we can work on grace later.  :)  What I want her to have is a pure, kind, commpassionate heart that is full of life and love for others.

While I was writing this post, my desktop got a virus.  So I switched to my son's laptop.  Hope it's nothing too serious!!  Guess I'll have to bring it into the shop tomorrow and find out.  I will post tomorrow for the Stampin' Celebration challenge, so be sure to stop back by!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stampin' Celebration #36... MDS Style!

Hi Stamping and Scrapping Friends!
Oh. My. Goodness!!  I had soooooo much fun creating this 12x12 digi scrap page with My Digital Studio!!  It is my most favorite MDS page ever!!!  (At least until next week, when I create another one!)  Like I say every time I post an MDS page, I am completely addicted to digi scrapping!  I never thought I would enjoy it this much.  I created this page for the inspiration challenge over at the Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge.  Here are the inspiration photos:
I chose to use the colors Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, and Blushing Bride.  Also from the pictures I was inspired by the flowers, the polka dots, and those butterflies by the cupcake.  The fabulous scrap sketch came from the PageMaps blog.  It has been one of my go-to scrap sketch sites for years.  I was a scrapbooker long before I was a stamper.  (A CM party way back in '93 got me hooked!)  And now that I'm back scrapping again with My Digital Studio, I've been visiting PageMaps more and more.  I need to sit with a big stack of paper and print me up last years sketches.  I think I have all of them printed up to 2009.

All the elements I used on this page come with the original My Digital Studio software.  I've purchased ZERO downloads.  I've only done the FREE updates from Stampin' Up!  Of course that will all change on February 1st when I plan on purchasing a boatload of MDS stuff.  I'm really wanting more Designer Series Paper, more embellishments, more kits, more everything!!!

Why am I waiting until 2-1?  So I can get the Sale-A-Bration benefits of course!!  The Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration promotion starts on January 25th.  There are three easy ways to earn FREE products:
1.  Spend $50 and earn one FREE SAB product.  For every $50 you spend, you can choose another FREE SAB product!!
2.  Host a workshop of at least $300 and earn one FREE SAB product in addition to the generous hostess benefits.
3.  Join Stampin' Up! by becoming a demonstrator during SAB and get 15% off your Starter Kit.  Plus, get a bonus bundle filled with over $50 in FREE products!
Contact me if you are interested in learning more about either of these three ways you can earn FREE products!!

This past week I was honored with the Stylish Blogger Award from my very sweet "pretend stamping friend" Cindy at Heart's Delight Cards.  Come back tomorrow and find out 8 things you may not know about me.  Although this may be kinda tough for me, as I talk way too much and my life is an open book!  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Create with MDS!

Hi Scrapping and Stamping Friends!!
I have another My Digital Studio 12x12 digital scrapbook page for you today.  Have you heard me say how much I LOVE MDS?!  I just can't stop playing around with it!  Best part of all, there is no mess to clean up afterwards!  Now if I only had a laptop, I could scrap while I'm waiting for kids to get done with practices and stuff!

I used the colors from the Create with Connie and Mary blog.  The colors are Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Baja Breeze, and Chocolate Chip.  This is challenge CCMC133.  I made a card for this challenge last week.  I have no idea how I knew about it ahead of time.  Must have been on my blog roll or something.  But I went ahead and made another project because I liked this color combo so much.  Since I'm waiting for Sale-A-Bration before I download any new MDS stuff, it was tough to include Pear Pizzazz.  Thankfully, Stampin' Up! offers free upgrades and they included some DSP with the new In-Colors.  I made the Pear Pizzazz strips by using the 1.25" Square Punch and resizing it to the size I wanted, then adding some DSP as the background.  The other digi stamps come from the Always set. They are included with the My Digital Studio software.  Like I said, I'm working with bare bones here.  I only have the original software.  I've purchased NO downloads... yet!

This fabulous sketch comes from the My Digital Studio online community.  It is a great place to be inspired by other amazing MDS artists.  They have a weekly Saturday Sketch Challenge.  This is ScrapSketch14.  The other thing I love about the MDS site is I learn so much!!  The forums are a great place to ask questions like, "How'd they do that?"  I've gleaned some awesome little tips by surfing through this site.  The only thing I haven't figured out how to do is "Group" objects.  I really need to learn this technique, because I love layering embellishments, but I almost always end up moving them.  Then I have to move each layer one at a time.  It's pain staking!  So if you know how to "Group" objects, let me in on the secret.  Please!!

Make sure you stop back by tomorrow to see what we are celebrating at the Stampin' Celebration Challenge.  I know you will "love" it!  :)

For today's project I used the inspiration photos to design a digital scrapbook layout using My Digital Studio.  I can't believe I'm actually admitting this, but I'm loving digi scrapping!!  I thought I would always be a tried and true paper scrapper, but times are a changing.  Using MDS is soooooo easy.  And there is absolutley NO mess after you are finished!!!

This fabulous sketch came from the Saturday Scrapbook Sketch Challenge at the My Digital Studio website.  This is ScrapSketch13.  I love visitng the MDS website everyday for great inspiration and tips.  It's where I've learned everything there is to know about MDS!

ColourQ #67... Scrapbook Style!

Hi Stamping and Scrapping Friends!
Remember this cute little tush from yesterday?  Well I loved these ColourQ challenge colors so much, I thought I would try them out on a My Digital Studio scrap page.  The only pictures I could find that kinda went with these colors, were some of my daughter's 9th birthday (she's 12 now!).

I'm a scrapper (and stamper!) who likes everything to match (that's probably why I'm a SU! demonstrator!).  So besides the Kiwi Kiss, I adjusted the other colors slightly.  I used Kiwi Kiss, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise and a special shade of pinkish/red that I colored picked from my daughters dress.  The sketch for this layout comes from the My Digital Studio website.  This is ScrapSketch09.  The MDS site is a super place to learn great tips and tricks of how to use your MDS.  This week I learned a fun technique of inserting photos into the punches.  Makes it so easy to crop photos into any size and shape you want!  The site is available to everyone, demos and customers.  I can't wait for Sale-A-Bration so I can download some stuff for MDS.  I haven't downloaded anything at all.  I'm still using only the original stuff and the free upgrades.  I'm ready to try out some new goodies!!

Make sure you stop back by tomorrow and see what we are celebrating at the Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge.  It's going to be a party you don't want to miss!

SCIC #34... Scrapbook Style!

Hi Stamping Friends!!  Well I warned you!  Ever since I started playing with Stampin' Up!'s digital scrapbook software, called My Digital Studio, I haven't been able to stop!  I used this week's Stampin' Celebration Challenge as inspiration to design another scrap page.  I also used a sketch from the My Digital Studio website.  This is Saturday Scrapbook Challenge #5.

The cutie in the center is my DD and her BFF.  Back in 2008 they got to sing a duet together on Christmas morning at church.  They sang "Mary Did You Know".  I took these pictures while they were practicing before church started.  I didn't want to look like some crazy "mommarazzi" during the actual service!  I kept the color palette to Very Vanilla, Whisper White, and Bashful Blue as inspired by the SCIC photos.  I love to add the "shadow" effect to all my MDS embellishments, papers, photos, pretty much everything on my page!  I've always thought that digital scrapbooking looks so flat.  The shadowing really adds some depth to all the elements.  And MDS makes it so easy to change your photos to black and white.  It really only takes a click of the button.

I hope you have a chance to play along with us at the Stampin' Celebration Challenge this week.  And make sure and check out the big party we are celebrating next week.  You won't want to miss out on the fun!  Also, if you are interested about finding out more about the My Digital Studio software, email me.  I'd love to chat.  Also, make sure you check out the MDS website.  They're are some really amazing digital artists that hang out there and they are more than willing to share their expertise.

Thanks for stopping by!

ColourQ #66... Scrapbook Style!

Hi Stamping Friends!  I purchased Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio digital scrapbook software months and months ago when it first came out.  As a demo, I thought it was important that I stay up-to-date with all the latest and greatest products.  I tried to sit down once and teach myself the ropes, but was quickly frustrated.  You see, I'd been using PhotoShop Elements for years and was comfortable and familiar with how it worked.  I finally sat down last week again with my MDS and I have had a total change of heart.  I am in LOVE!!!  It is sooooooo easy to use.  Don't get me wrong, I will still use PSE to edit my photos, but when I want to create a great a digi layout of any type, card, scrapbook, blog header, etc. I will be using my MDS from Stampin' Up!!

Here is the digital scrap page I created using this week's color challenge over at the ColourQ.  Now be gentle, since this is only the third MDS layout I have created.  I have a lot to learn!

This page took me awhile to make, only because I'm learning how to create my own embellishments and stuff.  In other words, I do a lot of playing around!  I also like to move stuff around... a lot!  With traditional scrapbooking, I could have a page layed out all day before I finally tape it all down.  I'm always messing around with changing things around.  This fabulous sketch comes from PageMaps by Becky Fleck.  This is one of my all-time favorite scrap sketch sites and has been since forever!

One of my goals this year is to scrapbook more often.  And at this time in my life, digi scrapping is just easier for me to do.  I will never give up traditional scrapbooking.  I love it waaaay too much.  (And I have way too much money invested in it!) I love to look at my horrid first Creative Memories pages and just laugh.  Scrapping has come along way since I went to my first CM party in 1993.  Thank goodness!!

I hope you enjoyed this little diversion from my regular stamped cards.  I hope to feature a digi MDS page at least once a week.  At least that's my goal for now.  Talk to me next week when mom's taxi goes back into service.  My 12yo DD is taking FOUR music classes and my 14yo DS swims FIVE nights a week and does water polo TWO nights a week.  What was I thinking saying YES to all of that?!  Crazy I tell ya!  That's what I am!

Happy Belated Christmas!!!

Hi Stamping Friends!!!

My cousin married an Englishman and I love how they say Happy Christmas!!!  Since it finally stopped raining and all the holiday hoopla has died down, I finally had a chance to take a picture of our Christmas card.

I made and sent out 108 of these.  Of course it was half way through the assembly process that I figured out I needed more like 145 cards!  So My Digital Studio to the rescue!

Here's the card I made using MDS components.  The hardest part was trying to figure out who was going to get the handmade card and who was going to get the photo card!

I hope you and your family enjoyed a beautiful Christmas together.
Thanks for stopping by!
