ColourQ Tuesday #28

Hi Stamping Friends!

Woo Hoo!  It's another COLOURQ Tuesday!  This week Arielle gave us some fun, bright colors to play with.  I think they kind of have a fun retro feel to them.  Like a 50's style diner.  I had such a great time playing with these colors, that I created three cards... again!
The first card uses the sketch from the CLEAN & SIMPLE blog.  This is Fall To Layout #85 FTL85.

Here's the card I sent in to Arielle:

I love everything about this card except that panel under the Pumpkin Pie Striped grosgrain.  At first I had only the ribbon, but it looked too plain.  Then I added the Ruby Red panel, and that was working for me either.  Then I added the Regal Rose and when that still didn't work, I finally gave up!  Not sure what else I could have done differently.  For this card I used the new set that will be in the next SU! catalog, but it is available for purchase now!  It's called Awash With Flowers and can I tell you that I LOVE this set!  I just can't stop using it!

For the next card I used the sketch from TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS.  This is sketch #108 TESC108.  Super cute layout with all the different panels.  I was having some difficulty finding various DSP in these colors.  I finally decided on some patterns from the Sweet Pea stack that is in the Occasions Mini catalog.  The blue is really supposed to be Taken With Teal, but I think it works for Bermuda Bay too.  I did flip this sketch on its side.

Here's my second card:

I'm not sure how often you'll find blue leaves, but I think it works!  These first two cards also work for the theme challenge over at the PALS PAPER ARTS blog.  The theme is Flowers.  I have a feeling they are going to get TONS of uploads this week!  The pink almost looks like Cameo Coral in this pic, but I promise it really is Regal Rose.  The stamp sets I used in this card are Sweetheart and A Little Birthday Cheer.

The last card uses the Sketch For You To Try at Jen del Muro's blog i{heart}2stamp.  Another fun sketch with lots of layers and panels.  I may have overdone the polka dot theme with this one.  This is the card that made me think these colors had a retro feel to them.

And finally, card number three:

Isn't it just delish?!  Makes me think of malt shops and sock hops and Chevy's with big tail fins.  The DSP is from the Sweet Pea stack... again!  The stamp set is called On A Pedestal.  Be sure to check out what the other ColourQ gals have created with this fabulous color combo.  Just click on the links on the sidebar.  I still have to pinch myself to think that I get to hang out with such talent!

Birthday Stamp Camp Card #1

Hi Stamping Friends!

I had a wonderful time at my Birthday Stamp Camps this past weekend.  I even had three new gals come.  How fun is that?!  I usually do a camp every other month.  Last year I did them every month, but it got to be too much with the busy life of my family.  Every other month works out perfectly.

This was my favorite card from the set of five cards.  The colors just make me smile.

I used the Sweet Pea DSP pack from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  The card base is Whisper White layered with Old Olive.  The Old Olive has been embossed with the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates.  The flower is punched out with the Extra Large Fancy Flower from the mini catty.  The stem is stamped in Old Olive and comes from the Sweetheart stamp set.  The birthday sentiment is from the set called A Little Birthday Cheer, which you can get FREE through the end of March with our Sale-A-Bration promotion!  It is punched out with the Modern Label punch.  I love punching out my sentiments.  Not only can you raise them with Dimensionals, you don't have to worry about stamping it straight!

I made an "up-do" version of this card, for the two bakeries where I sell my cards: Goodies Cookies and The Frosted Muffin, both in Visalia, CA.

I used a different print of the DSP, plus added a Pumpkin Pie Corduroy button and the Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain replaces the regular grograin.  I also paper pierced around the edge of the image and added a brad to the sentiment.  The ribbon inside the button is a piece of retired Kiwi Kiss Twill.

I hope I have time to stamp today.  I'm neck deep in some baby shower invites that need to be mailed TODAY!  I really want to play in the ColourQ challenge.  I just LOVE the inspiration pieces that Arielle picks out!

Friend Pack Card #2

Hi Stamping Friends!

Last week I showed you this card

It's from my Friend Pack for my Cards for Missions Fundraiser.  All week long all be showing you the other 4 cards from the same pack.  For my fundraiser, I sold packs of cards, 5 cards in each pack for $15. Each pack had a different theme: Scripture, Thank You, Thinking of You, etc...  I sold 70 packs of cards!  After hearing that the pre-school where I worked at in the Dominican Republic is in need of funds, I decided to continue selling cards and giving the money to the school.

I've really enjoyed coming up with all the different card packs.  I've used the same 5 layouts for each pack, just changing the colors, stamped images and sentiments.  The Friend Pack has been one of my most favorite packs so far!  I used the retired DSP Raspberry Tart.  LOVE the colors in this DSP!!  Here's another card from the Friend Pack:

I used the Sweetheart stamp set for the leaves, and the With All My Heart set for the flower image and the sentiment.  The colors are Kiwi Kiss (retired), Rose Red, Cameo Coral, Pink Pirouette (retired).  Gotta love the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder out of the Occasions Mini.  It's one of my (many!) favorites items in the Mini catalog.  I also love the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch.  Such a classic shape.  The label was puched out using the Lots Of Labels Sizzlet pack.

Hostess Spring 10

Hi Stamping Friends!

Strange name for a post title huh?!  Well, this is what I nicknamed my current Hostess Club.  I give each club a nickname, that way I can set them up as a group in my email contacts, and when I email them, I just email the group!  One of the most rewarding things about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator (besides the discount!) is how many new friendships I have made through my monthly Hostess Clubs.  I really enjoy getting to visit with these gals each month. And since I keep each group to a max of 6 members, we really get some quality time together.

So why did I bring all this up?  Beacuse today's card is another one that we made on Sunday at my Spring 10 Hostess gathering.  This card (like most of them!) was CASEd from one I saw on the web somewhere. Again, I don't know where, so I apologize to the original creator!
Sorry about the fuzzy pic.  I have a love/hate realtionship with my camera... I love to hate it! It's a really nice camera, but I just can't seem to get it to do what I want, even after taking two photography classes.  I'm sure it's the photographer, more than the camera, but it's easier to blame the camera.

This card has a So Saffron base layered with a piece of DSP from the Sahdes of Spring pack. The flower "stamp" is from the With All My Heart set in the Occasions Mini Catalog and it is punched using the Extra Large Fancy Flower punch, also in the Mini and stamped in Orchid Opulence. The leaves and stem are from the Sweetheart set that is not in any catalog, but is still for sale. It is stamped in Certainly Celery.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Well Scripted set, also from the Mini. The tag is punched out using the Lots of Tags Embosslit set.

Remember, if you are in the Visalia/Exeter/Tulare/Tipton area and would be interesting in making fun cards like this one, contact me.  My next Hostess Club will be starting in July.  And I'll try to think up a cuter name for that group.  Maybe Stampin' Summer Fun 10.
