Happy Birthday ColourQ!!

Woo Hoo!  The Colour Q is one year old!!!  Happy Birthday!  And to celebrate this exciting milestone, Arielle threw us for a little loop this week.  Instead of giving us the normal, fabulous color challenge, she gave us a sketch challenge and told us to use any of the color challenges from the past year.  How great is that?!  It was so fun browsing through all the past challenges.  It was really difficult to pick one.  There are so many fantastic color combos.  I thought I would maybe choose a combo I had never used before, but that didn't happen.  I finally settled on ColourQ #13.  I just think these are perfect birthday colors for any girl.  I actually did participate in this challenge, as a regular stamper, not as a DT member.  So here is the card I created to celebrate the one year birthday of the ColourQ.

ON A PEDESTAL

It's a bummer I didn't catch all the sparkle of the rhinestones.  This card is nice and blingy.  Even the "icing" is sparkling with some Dazzling Diamonds.  You might be seeing a lot more bling on my blog in the next couple of weeks.  I'm getting ready to sell some cards and stuff at a Fall Festival at a local Christian school and the mothers there are known for their love of all things shiny.  So I figure the more the merrier!!  I should add another pack of rhinestones to my next order.  I would hate to run out!

I hope you have a chance to stop by the ColourQ and check out what the rest of the amazing design team has created.  Plus, help us celebrate our first year by uploading your creation to the challenge.  We would love to have you join us!

Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #12

Hi Stamping Friends!  Well I think I might be getting back into the stamping mood.  And these gorgeous pics from the latest Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge sure helped me get over my slump.  I just LOVE the bright, citrusy colors!!  They just make my lips pucker and my mouth water and make we crave a glass of my grandma's fresh lemonade.  My grandpa and grandma has two lemon trees in their backyard.  Grandpa would pick them and grandma would juice them and freeze the juice.  She would make us lemonade everytime we came to visit.  Which was a lot!!

I used the colors in the inspiration pic and combined them with the sketch challenge over at The Sweet Stop blog.  I just realized after uploading the pic of the sketch that I left off one of the main panels.  Whoops!  I did remember to use a tag though.  That was the bonus part of the challenge.  Well, I like how this card turned out anyway.  I used a lot of my "favorites" on it.

ON A PEDESTAL

It was fun to play with some new stuff.  The card base is Whisper White layered with Pear Pizzazz.  The Pumpkin polka dot DSP is from the Island Oasis pack from the Summer Mini Catalog.  The flowers ( Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie) were made using the Floral Fusion Sizzlet die.  The white brads are topped with the Jewels Basic Rhinestones.  The cake pedestal also has some of the Jewels Basic Pearls.  I LOVE the SU! Jewels!!!  I love that they come in multiple sizes.  I love that they are self-stick.  And I love the price!!  They are only $4.95 for 150 pieces!!!  You can't beat that!

After making this card, I decided I "need" to get the Jewelry Tag punch and Tiny Tags stamp set.  How have I lived this long without them?!

I hope you will play along with us this week at the Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge!  I can't wait to see what bright, cheerful creation you come up with.

ColourQ Tuesday #28

Hi Stamping Friends!

Woo Hoo!  It's another COLOURQ Tuesday!  This week Arielle gave us some fun, bright colors to play with.  I think they kind of have a fun retro feel to them.  Like a 50's style diner.  I had such a great time playing with these colors, that I created three cards... again!
The first card uses the sketch from the CLEAN & SIMPLE blog.  This is Fall To Layout #85 FTL85.

Here's the card I sent in to Arielle:

I love everything about this card except that panel under the Pumpkin Pie Striped grosgrain.  At first I had only the ribbon, but it looked too plain.  Then I added the Ruby Red panel, and that was working for me either.  Then I added the Regal Rose and when that still didn't work, I finally gave up!  Not sure what else I could have done differently.  For this card I used the new set that will be in the next SU! catalog, but it is available for purchase now!  It's called Awash With Flowers and can I tell you that I LOVE this set!  I just can't stop using it!

For the next card I used the sketch from TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS.  This is sketch #108 TESC108.  Super cute layout with all the different panels.  I was having some difficulty finding various DSP in these colors.  I finally decided on some patterns from the Sweet Pea stack that is in the Occasions Mini catalog.  The blue is really supposed to be Taken With Teal, but I think it works for Bermuda Bay too.  I did flip this sketch on its side.

Here's my second card:

I'm not sure how often you'll find blue leaves, but I think it works!  These first two cards also work for the theme challenge over at the PALS PAPER ARTS blog.  The theme is Flowers.  I have a feeling they are going to get TONS of uploads this week!  The pink almost looks like Cameo Coral in this pic, but I promise it really is Regal Rose.  The stamp sets I used in this card are Sweetheart and A Little Birthday Cheer.

The last card uses the Sketch For You To Try at Jen del Muro's blog i{heart}2stamp.  Another fun sketch with lots of layers and panels.  I may have overdone the polka dot theme with this one.  This is the card that made me think these colors had a retro feel to them.

And finally, card number three:

Isn't it just delish?!  Makes me think of malt shops and sock hops and Chevy's with big tail fins.  The DSP is from the Sweet Pea stack... again!  The stamp set is called On A Pedestal.  Be sure to check out what the other ColourQ gals have created with this fabulous color combo.  Just click on the links on the sidebar.  I still have to pinch myself to think that I get to hang out with such talent!

Birthday Stamp Camp Card #2

Hi Stamping Friends!

Just a quick post today as I'm heading out to my little office job.  It's another card from my Birthday Stamp Camp.  This one was CASEd from the amazingly talented Lynn Put.  I just LOVE her style.  You've got to check out her fabulous blog: THE QUEEN'S SCENE.

This was a favorite of the class.  Evertone loved this card.  I also did an "up-do" version to sell at the bakeries.  This card didn't need much improving, I just added a little bling.

This card uses the set On A Pedestal.  The base is Chocolate Chip layered with Pretty I nPink.  The DSP is from the Sending Love pack in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  The stamp is colored with markers.  We used Going Gray for the pedestal, Chocolate Chip for the cake and Regal Rose for the frosting.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
